We spent 2 weeks in L'Isle sur la-Sorgue in July, with temperatures in the high 30's every day, so we really appreciated the air conditioning, which was provided in the main living area and in all 4 bedrooms. Pascale was great to communicate with, she & Sebastien made us welcome on arrival. The house is large and perfect for 2 couples or more, as there are indoor and outdoor table settings for 7-8 people. The photographs on this site give an accurate representation of the accommodation. There are 2 bedrooms sharing a small shower-room/laundry on the ground floor, and 2 bedrooms upstairs sharing a bath/ French hand held shower. Both bathrooms have separate toilets. There are 4-6 English language TV channels, BBC World, CNN etc and the wifi was excellent. Parking is on-site but not undercover, however parking in the town itself is dreadful, so it was very much appreciated. The town is just a flat 2-3 minutes walk from the house. Across the road from the house is a set of 5 shops with an excellent boulangerie, 2 restaurants (Pizza and Italian) and a small grocery store. The accommodation is the top part of a bigger house and there are two families who live on the lower level and share the parking/garden areas. The thing we liked best about the house was the canal that ran at the bottom of the slightly untended shaded garden, where we had aperitifs each night, fed the ducks and watched for illusive otters. However there are plans to open a cafe in this area next year, open until 9pm, so if the garden appeals, I would speak to Pascale about their progress. There is a verandah off the main sitting room with couch type seating & electric BBQ and a patio off the kitchen with a large plastic table and 7 chairs as alternative open spaces. The house was not serviced weekly, so speak to Pascale if this is important. There were plenty of cleaning products. We liked L'Isle sur-la Sorgue, but preferred Bonnieux for its proximity to more Provencal towns, so a one week stay would have been ideal.
Just a thirty minute drive from Avignon airport this house is ideally located for the town centre and as a base for the attractions and sites in the area. We couldn't take it all in in one week so we will have to go back. The family who own the house are the nicest people you could wish to meet. You feel that they really care and I have to say they demonstrated that to the full. The house itself is brilliant and well appointed having aircon where needed. This family deserve to do well.
Staying here for 11 nights and it was perfect. On most days we would visit villages around Provence and come home and relax in the evening. Restaurants are just a 2-3 minutes away and there is a pizza place and bakery over the road.
The house is huge and a lot bigger than the pictures show.
With 2 bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs and 2 bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs. Plus living areas upstairs and down stairs, a huge kitchen, dining area, a front verandah with seating and back verandah with dining table and chairs, the place is spacious.
Along with that you have access to the river and grounds. On a lovely sunny day we used all the outside areas and in the evenings we would drink amazing french wine around the fireplace in the lounge which comfortably sat 4 adults and 2 children. The lounge was super cozy with lovely couches and fire......we were very spoilt.
The beds were firm, linen was comfortable and contemporary and cupboard space was excellent. The kitchen has more than enough needed to cook, eat and drink, morning, noon and night. Great Wifi access.
We were met by Sebastien and Pascal; the owners who are lovely and took as much time as needed to show us around and answer our many questions. They also helped out with using the dish washer.
Would stay here again in a heart beat......highly recommend.
