Mistral offered us a sophisticated and tasty meal, that was not diluted with fussiness. In other words, this was an approachable and enjoyable dining experience, one of the best we have had in our two weeks in France, and the best meal we have had in L'isle-sur-la-Sourge. Each dish was well composed of textures, flavours and colours. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and genuine. It felt as if the staff enjoyed being right where they were - in their restaurant, cooking up great food and sharing it with us patrons. The tasting menu was reasonably priced at 25 euros, comprised of an appetizer ("entree), a main ("plat") and a dessert, with three offerings from which to choose in each category. The home made pate and salad appetizer was exceptional. The locally sourced fish was perfectly cooked, and the dessert - a passion fruit tart with gelato - made for a sweet, yet simple closure to a wonderful meal. Oh, and the wine list offered a good selection of local whites, roses and reds. I highly recommend Mistral!
For those whose French language skills are minimal, you will appreciate the excellent English on offer at Mistral. The owners of Mistral used to own a restaurant in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (of the same name, i.e., "Mistral").
