Mistral offered us a sophisticated and tasty meal, that was not diluted with fussiness. In other words, this was an approachable and enjoyable dining experience, one of the best we have had in our two weeks in France, and the best meal we have had in L'isle-sur-la-Sourge. Each dish was well composed of textures, flavours and colours. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and genuine. It felt as if the staff enjoyed being right where they were - in their restaurant, cooking up great food and sharing it with us patrons. The tasting menu was reasonably priced at 25 euros, comprised of an appetizer ("entree), a main ("plat") and a dessert, with three offerings from which to choose in each category. The home made pate and salad appetizer was exceptional. The locally sourced fish was perfectly cooked, and the dessert - a passion fruit tart with gelato - made for a sweet, yet simple closure to a wonderful meal. Oh, and the wine list offered a good selection of local whites, roses and reds. I highly recommend Mistral!

For those whose French language skills are minimal, you will appreciate the excellent English on offer at Mistral. The owners of Mistral used to own a restaurant in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (of the same name, i.e., "Mistral").

We stopped for the Formule Midi. The menu advertised uniquement produits frais. And that's what it was. All the food was local, fresh, and delicious. Minna explained the menu in detail in English, which certainly added to our enjoyment. This bistro moderne deserves all the good reviews it has received. The price is good value for the quality.

We had high expectations. The couple we were dining with had liked it so much the night before they had booked again. The reviews so far on TripAdvisor were all glowing. It seemed like the Isle's newest restaurant was going to be a find. And indeed largely it was. Finnish Minna provides charming service, the decoration is lovely and the menu choices all attractive. The wine list is modest but included our favourite Canorgue Rosé so no complaints there. The snails in pesto on toast is a great entrée (and sounds much more seductive in French of course). For main course the veal with onions was tender and flavoursome, the pork was falling nicely off its shoulder but the steak was disappointing. It might have been possible to overlook the fact that it was barely cooked enough to qualify as "medium" (given that "à point" seems to mean "a few seconds more than rare to French chefs) but not its toughness. The Lyn half of MosLyn gave me a quarter of her serving and it just wasn't enjoyable. We tried all three desserts - the tarte citron, the cherry clafoutis and the oh-so-rich chocolate mousse - all lovely. Open six days for lunch but only three evenings at the moment. So, very close, only one blip which I am sure they can sort out.

We visited this evening having read good reviews and we were not disappointed. The owner is very convivial and the food is well seasoned and fresh. We would certainly make a return visit and recommend it to others.
Kevin had the rabbit, I had lamb, both very good. The dessert was also excellent and all good value.

The food was excellent, the service outstanding and the atmosphere just lovely. Even with two kids under the age of 7 we felt very welcome. Will recommend to anyone and everyone.
