With my german friend Birgitt we visited for the second time the restaurant Le Petit Henri and decided to take our lunch in the courtyard and terrace . Our first visit and lunch last september was fantastic, exquisite food and elegant ambiente in the dining room.We were a little bit disappointed specially by the slow service, only one young lady server, the manager was on holidays. The food was tasty and well prepared for sure and we selected a cotes du Rhone Gigondas excellent quality. Our expectations of a succulent meal were somewhat disappointed but despite everything we spent two hours together, the opportunity for a quality lunch with friends of long standing ... A third visitin this restaurant is essential to us ... We will return in September l'isle sur Sorgue is such a beautiful city...

We always buy a new Michelin Red Guide for our trips to France and happened to note that this small hotel's restaurant was included in the recommendations. We had been here many years ago on a cold spring evening and had a so-so meal. Today was different. Measured service, excellent food and wine, and a gorgeous courtyard. Tres bon!

We stayed at the hotel attached to this restaurant so thought we would give it a try, even though it was not near the top of trip advisor rated restaurants and we know of several in town we really like. What a mistake.

The restaurant pretends to be an elegant dining establishment, but falls short over and over. Where to start?

Our server was young and inexperienced, forgivable but not her total lack of personality or interest in giving us a pleasing ( even passable) dining experience.

Three menus are offered with an ala carte that consists only of the items from the menus. A rediculously short offering. The wine list is not extensive, but adequate with some interesting local choices. It lacks any breath into the great wine regions.

We ordered the "Inspiration " menu. The asparagus appetizer was very good, the house made breads excellent. The cod main course was poor with the cod grossly over cooked, the sides were essentially carrots three ways, boring! The cheese plate was uninspired but adequate. The tart tatin was awful, dry and sticky, little flavor with a dollop of flavorless ice cream.

Throughout the two hours of the meal, we were never asked if we were happy, we were never offered water, there was never an effort to refill empty wine glasses, and between courses we sat for ten minutes or more looking at dirty plates.

As I said above this restaurant pretends to be an elegant establishment, pretending does not make it so.

The hotel, where restaurant is located is beautiful. The food was OK, but nothing specially and limited menu.
The service was slow, because there was only one lady, and it was difficult for her to manage with the all guests. The dining space has divided, and in second part they are clasifying plates and forks and spoons, and it’s was very noisy, like we had dinner in the kitchen. Two glasses of red wines were from bottles which was not recently opened, and the wine was not good (with a lot of oxygen). Yes, they replaced it, when I complained but how can it happened in fine dining restaurant and in France? This place, because of the building, just look like a fine dining restaurant , and for EUR 100/person they have to offer much more than normal food.

Very nice atmosphere. Tables have a comfortable size. Distance to other tables allows you to have a nice conversation without your neighbor overhearing every word. Food is top level. The cooking is very innovative and the plates are presented in an elegant way. Reasonable price level. Excellent service. We had a charming evening, close to the fire place and every plate was a joy. Will come back for sure!
