Returned after discovering the village last year.
Ski in Ski out apartment, quiet slopes and SNOW.
Restaurants and super market within staggering distance.
What more could you want!!
Well OK, but I was with family.

Stayed here with 4 friends at the beginning of January. Apartment is very basic, however it is clean and comfortable. There was 5 of us staying in one apartment all aged between 22 and 26. The apartment was quite small however we barely spent much time there throughout the day! Kitchen facilities are adequate, we cooked in the apartment on a few occassions and very often came back for lunch. Reception staff were friendly. Ski in/out was excellent!
Swimming pool was very cold, i only managed to get half way in before running back inside!
Excellent resort for beginner skiiers. I had lesson with ESF which is based by the Gondola lift, they were really excellent and helped me improve my technique and confidence!
There isn't much going on here at night, there are a few bars and one club. Restaurants all serve pizza and crepes! Favourite restuarant was Tribeca, real french food! Also enjoyed a fondue at La Marmote.

This is a really amazing aparthotel. Furniture and storage in good condition, pretty clean, excellent location right to the slopes and useful lockers room at the basement. There is a small city market 5 minutes walking and also the ski schools. Bad things: the car park is very small (do not forget to make a garage reservation) and the wifi is terribly slow. And be careful when you make a reservation because in France they consider the living room another bedroom. Soy if you are going with kids be sure your apartment have two bedrooms.

Our second visit to Vars and to these apartments. This time we booked a 3 bedroom apartment for 9 days over New Year. Travelling down we were called by the Samantha ( I am sure that was her name) wanting to know what time we would be arriving as reception is closed at certain times.... a good job that she phoned as I had totally forgotten this! Excellent customer service by Samantha for the whole stay although I was disappointed by her colleague when I approached her for some new towels during our 9 days stay. We had to put up a bit of a battle to gain new towels but I can't see why as no other hotel/apartment would let you go 9 days without a change of towels.... I think it's called unhealthy! Anyway, this was sorted but tainted my stay a little. Parking was much more busy at New Year compared to Easter however if you are patient and watch out you'll get one! Snow chains are a must (unless in a 4 x 4) to get your car up to the apartments if it is bad weather as they stop you as you enter the town. Ski hire deals are set up with a local ski shop. Best place to stay in my opinion in Vars.

Let me just start with a negative - WIFI was terrible! We would not use that again - very disappointing service (but this is not run by the L'Albane & they can't help).
We chose a 4/5 person apartment. Initially disappointed by the layout which struck us as slightly smaller than we expected for up to 5 people (4 chairs & a stool) & 5th bed located as a pull out in the living room with the 2 single size sofa beds. Just relieved we were a family of 4. Would have been tight for 5 adults for example. These were the only negatives.....
The apartment was fully equipped & even had a helpful little welcome box of cleaning products (dishwasher tablets, etc), clean towels & white bed linen. The duvets and pillows were clean too. It was extremely comfortable, modern, warm & clean. Lots of excellent storage & after the first day we realised what a well thought out apartment it was. The receptionists are very polite & helpful & speak good English. Great bakery service & same price as the local Spar! The Spar is a 5 min walk so that was helpful too.
Overall a fantastic place. Ski lockers located on the same level as the slopes which are a few steps away. Perfect for children so they don't have to carry ski gear far. Then it is an easy ski down to ski school. Coming home there are lots of interesting routes back. The resort offers ideal family skiing with mostly green & blue runs, but there are reds & blacks. Outdoor pool is a laugh - it is tepid & ok for one dip just to experience swimming in the snow! We loved it & we want to go again next year! Enjoy & Bon Ski!

Room Tip: You might like to check which building you are heading to before you arrive - but they are both accessed by the same road up a small hill - tricky in the snow - so don't forget your snowchains/snowsocks/wintertyres!
