My husband and I stayed at the Chateau a couple of weeks ago to partake in a family celebration. We arrived early (about 11am) and no room was available yet - no problem we said, didn't expect differently and with the assurance there will be a room at 2pm we went for a nice walk in the surrounding countryside (vineyards as far as the eye reaches). So far so good. Unfortunately the room was not available at 2pm and we had to get ready for the celebrations in a family member's room. We returned much later and were handed the keys to our room which, to our disappointment, was not located in the main building, where rooms are full of character and charm but located in the 'modern' outhouse which lacks both.
So if you stay, make sure you request a room in the chateau itself and be prepared to pay a lot for the room and any little extra. not worth the trip and in no way in relation to the cost of the room.

Room Tip: go for the main building and steer clear of the 'modern' extension

Do not stay at this hotel.

The pictures look lovely, but the wonderful castle that you see has not a single bedroom inside. It is instead full of conference facilities, with the bedrooms situated in a modern cinderblock bungalow next door. This was the first sign that the owners of Pizay must be crazy.

We stayed with a large group of approximately 40 people, taking over a large proportion of the hotel. We ordered at great cost a banquet outside in the courtyard with roast suckling pigs to be prepared on an open fire. What we got was boiled pork served from the kitchen. Their excuse, that they thought it woudl rain. In fact, there had not been a cloud in the sky all day, and i believe they never had any intention of delivering what we had paid for. Vegetarians in our party were also brought asparagus wrapped in bacon.

The staff were inattentive and incompetant, with one English speaker in the entire place. For a group of this size, perhaps they might have changed the rota accordingly. The final straw was when the hotel took an anauthorised four figure payment from my account to cover "extras" before sending me the invoice. I have brought this to the attention of the bank who are recovering the funds with the help of my lawyer.

Have stayed here three times now, first two was passing through heading south but the most recent a deliberate trip to stay there for a few nights

The location is stunning in the middle of the burgandy and beujolais vineyards, this is a working chateau producing magnificent morgon and beajolais. The main bulding is grand and very well kept with stunning grounds and the wing to the rear has rooms which comprise a lounge area with bedroom mezzanine above, with pool to the rear

The restaurant is very typically french and very good indeed.....the biggest cheese trolly I have ever seen, and the wine list is as you would expect

The place has a great feel to it and is worth stopping off or making a special journey to see

We stayed here just for 1 night en route to the South. We had a special deal which included dinner & breakfast and was extremely good value. I loved the location & the whole set up. The rooms were in a separate modern block - duplexes - which suited us very well - no stairs to negotiate with luggage so very convenient - trolleys left at the entrance to take in your own luggage so no waiting around for porters - on the ground floor large balcony doors leading to the lovely pool - plenty of sun loungers - very unintrusive. Upstairs an extremely comfortable bed. Perfect. i am not sure if there is also accommodation in the chateau. Dinner was served in the courtyard - we ate early but I was surprised to be asked to vacate our table to take coffee at only 8.30pm & we had only sat down at 7.15pm - this is a minus point in my view - & very unnecessary. A bit of a corporate feel to the place due to an event taking place in the grounds and lots of visitors walking up to the chateau. I feel there was maybe a little to much emphasis on the corporate side & not enough for the guests. The sitting room & bar area were very not inviting at all. Another big minus was the purpose built breakfast room in the same block as the rooms - very corporate indeed & no outdoor seating which was a huge shame. No cooked breakfast appeared to be available & it was all self service including the coffee machine - which was excellent but didn't make cappuciono. It would have been nice to have stayed a little longer & enjoyed the walks & the spa but I was really put off by the breakfast room as I personally love the opportunity to sit in the sunshine for breakfast.

We loved staying here and feeling like we were stepping back in time. However, the rooms need to be remodeled. We splurged on a suite (which wasn't that much more compared to the paris hotel prices we were paying).

The service was wonderful and the restaurant has great food.

I offered a stay at the beautiful Chateau de Pizay to my partner for our two years anniversary. I had booked an offer including a one night in a junior suite, 30 minutes massage, two hours access to the spa facilities and a dinner at the gastronomic restaurant of the hotel.

The venue itself is simply beautiful. When you arrive, the very first thing you see is the castle itself which has been very well preserved over the years. The castle is surrounded by wonderful gardens with very elegantly shaped trees. Although we arriver two hours before the check-in time, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that our room was already ready for us.

The suites are not in the castle itself, but in a building that is 50 meters away. The building where the suites and the spa are is U-shaped with an open wire pool in the middle which has a wonderful view ver the castle's vineyards. The rooms are quite big and all have a terrace. Rooms include very modern equipment are extremely comfortable.

I personally really enjoyed the spa and not only the message. The facilities include a 30°C pool, with different sets of bubble massage beds and seats as well as special massage showers. In a separate room is the sauna, the steam room, a cold water pond as well as a special shower with rainforest-like program. You really have to try it!

The dinner is absolutely fantastic and definitely worth the price. It is however French top notch cuisine and the portions aren't big. Also note that there is a lot of time between the courses, so for a starter+main+dessert with the couple of "tasters" in-between takes about three hours. Whatever you chose to eat, make sure to have a wine from the chateau itself, not only is it divine but it is also a very well repotted Beaujolais! Speaking of food, the breakfast buffet is also incredible with "pains au chocolat" and croissants to die for.

Maybe not so charming - even if partly built on a real castle, some other hotels of this kind are more fascinating - but it is a great place for relaxing: total silence around, beautiful park, SPA & indoor pool.

Average food, great service and courtesy of the staff.

I'd say the real strength of this hotel are the rooms: I' ve been in one in the "dependance" (the new building) which was so nice, having the bed on a mezzanine and the bathroom with a small living room on the ground floor, with also a small private area outside, opening the French window, with a table and two chairs and a view on the fountain of the park.

I've been there for a business meeting: it's just OK also fo such purposes (good meeting rooms, equipment, etc.)
