My wife and I went to V. Mertz for our anniversary and the experience was simply fantastic - this was our first time there and we were not disappointed. I'm not too much of a "foodie" so my expectations for success were based on my wife's experience and V. Mertz hit a grand slam for both of us. We ordered the dinner for two and this is where they made their money - they paired the wines nicely with each serving and the chef came out and described two of the 4 courses in terms of the ingredients they used and their explanation as to how they cooked it - very cool! We will go back.

My boyfriend and I tried V Mertz for the first time on a recent trip to Omaha. We loved the location and the atmosphere. It’s very cozy and romantic. The service was excellent – courteous, professional, efficient, but not intrusive.

The food is what really stands out here. We started with the shrimp and grits appetizer, which was delicious. The shrimp were cooked and seasoned perfectly and the grits were smooth and creamy. I ordered the Wagyu flank steak entrée, cooked medium rare. Wow! The steak came sliced on a bed of polenta, shitake mushrooms, and asparagus. It was cooked perfectly and the mix of all those flavors was fantastic. My boyfriend had the salmon and said it was the best salmon dish he has ever had in a restaurant. For dessert we shared the crème brulee which was also perfect.

I highly recommend V Mertz and would definitely dine there again in the future.

Had a really nice Groupon reason to book V. Mertz. 4 of us for dinner and had the charcuterie plate, smoky cauliflower soup, and waygu, peppercorn steak & lamb as mains. We brought our own wine for the main course, and the somm suggested a very nice rose for pairing with the charcuterie. (Note - consistent with a previous experience, the somm experience at v. mertz is top notch, not recommending the most expensive of options, but what he feels will actually pair the best. ) The charcuterie was awesome! Heck...the bread and butter they served before this was amazing and we asked for more. (more like demanded) The smoky soup was actually the disappointment of the evening, as it seemed loaded with liquid smoke which didn't let the freshness of the ingredients to come through. All the main courses were very well done, if not "memorable"...I'm not sure anyone would say "this was the best XXX I've ever had". I will say that the mushrooms on the waygu plate were the most intensely flavored that I think I've ever had. Desserts - the crème brullee & "candy bar". We found the candy bar OK, but the crème brullee was as excellent as it can be, and I'm a big fan!! Great service & ambience. I've seen comments about "good value"...and only with the groupon could I say that...if paying full price, then qpr is at best acceptable.

We had a lovely meal this evening at V Mertz in the Old Market. It is located in the Passage Way, a well - established and renovated/reclaimed retail space circa 1977 or so. After martinis, we were treated to a salmon amuse Bouche, which was a delightful bite, to be sure.
My husband started with the duck confit Ramen, and was thrilled with the perfect blend of favors. I had the Squeaky Green Organic salad, lightly dressed with remarkable smoked beets. The wine list is substantial, and since we prefer whites, chose a 2006 Chassagne Montrachet, which did not disappoint. For entrees, we had the Wagyu Bavette and the Long Island Duck Breast. Both were delectable. Service was superb and nicely paced. Such a terrific value!

This lovely venue provided a fine meal w/ innovative touches. The duck was well- prepared & the cheese selections were especially pleasing. The waiters were efficient & knew. The menu. A great find!
