The entire family loved it and the volunteers were wonderful! I was told that it changes often so we look forward to going there again on our next trip

“historic rail staion filled with the history of the region”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Housed in a art decco former railroad station this museum provides a look back at the history of the area in which the staion is located. From the stations's waiting room filled with statues in period ress and lifelike poases to a near world class coin collection assembled by a former Omahan, this museum can easily consume a full day of aimless or organized brousing.

“A very enjoyable afternoon”
Reviewed 18 November 2013

This lovely old Art Deco train station has been beautifully restored and effectively set up as a museum that brings history alive. We enjoyed the trains, but even more, we enjoyed the history of the Omaha area, and also the Civil War exhibit that was currently being highlighted. We spent about four hours at the museum and didn't see everything that there was to see.

I would have appreciated a few more places to sit scattered around the display area (I have recently had a knee replacement and need to occasionally rest on such an outing.) This was particularly difficult in the area where the Civil War display was set up.

The "talking statues" are very effective!

We enjoyed the soda fountain but were disappointed that decaf coffee wasn't available. It would seem that this is pretty basic these days in any place that serves coffee. But our ice cream sodas were most enjoyable.

This is a very fine museum and I heartily recommend it.

“Bigger than expected!”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

We went to this museum with the assumption that it was only a train museum. Boy were we wrong! We did love the train portion, but there was so much more to offer. We spent several hours here and really feel like we got our money's worth. The old Union Station building has been beautifully restored.

“Art deco gem holds a varied museum”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

The building itself is a must-see. They have the original soda fountain and you should stop for a sundae or malt.

The exhibits are under the main floor of the old train station.
