We came here on a weekend evening and sat in the grocery section towards the back of the store since all the outdoor seating was taken. We loved so much about the experience , especially feeling as if we were transported back to Europe while confined to the heartland of America. For that reason alone, I know we'll be back. LOVE the $4 corkage fee for the retail prices wines plus the huge, well organized selection.
Going with the European feeling, however, is the service. Inattentive, perhaps a little clumsy (my wine was spilled onto the tablecloth as the server poured - it was a huge, plate-sized stain), but I am not going to complain about the fact that I didn't feel rushed and I didn't mind waiting a little bit as we sipped on our German wine.
I just really wish two things were different. We ordered the meat and cheese charcuterie and would have LOVED to know what our three cheese and meat chef selections were beyond the obvious (bleu, hard, and soft cheeses + a salami, and two different hams with a bit of mustard, cornichons, tomato, cucumber, and olives) for future reference at the grocery and for comparison in the future. Secondly, I also wish the soft cheese (probably brie) was allowed to reach room temperature before it was served so the ammonia flavor would have dissipated completely.
Otherwise, we're in love.
