If you're in Omaha, you're not going to find a Four Seasons. But if a clean & spacious suite at a reasonable price PLUS fantastic Four Seasons-level service is your thing-- you won't go wrong here. The property is right across the street from TD Ameritrade Park--so I'm sure this place is packed during the CWS. During the "off season" we found it to be in a quiet part of town. It's about a mile to the shops and restaurants of Old Market. Luckily, Homewood offers a free shuttle there (and pretty much anywhere else in the area you'd want to go.) Our family relied on the shuttle several times-for the Zoo, Lauritzen Gardens & Old Market. You let the front desk know where you want to go and they call the driver who gives you a spot-on time of arrival--usually 5 minutes or less. This worked for us all but one time. After dinner in the Old Market, we called the front desk for our ride "home" and they said the shuttle would pick us up in 5 minutes. We waited and after 15 minutes I called the front desk for an update. They said the shuttle would arrive in about 20 minutes. SAY WHAT? We elected to walk "home." No big deal. Well-- when we walked in, the the front desk called me over and "comp"ed that night's stay for the inconvenience and added a goodie bag of snacks. Very nice indeed! In fact, while driving back to our real home 2 days later, the manager even called me and personally apologized. That was beyond the call of duty. I thanked her and praised her front desk staff--all of whom were young ladies-friendly, efficient and truly concerned with our stay. That means so much. Back to the physical characteristics of the hotel. We had a 2-bedroom suite. Plenty of room. King-sized bed with plenty of pillows in the master and two queens in the 2nd bedroom. 3 flat-screens with somewhat poor tv reception are featured, along with included wifi. The bathrooms have plenty of light over the sinks and tub/shower combos-no jetted tub. AC units are windo- mounted and reasonably quiet with wall-mounted thermostats. There's a frig and sink in the "kitchen." I'm not sure there's really a "view" anywhere here so I wouldn't think you'd need to be picky about which direction your room faces. One suggestion for the hotel-- while there ARE some translucent curtains for privacy on the windows, it would be nice to have some actual shades to block sunlight. Maybe also consider an upgrade to the toiletries. Are there swankier properties? Sure. Are there more spectacular hotel vistas? Certainly. But Homewood earns its 5 stars for going the extra mile to see to it that guests are treated like royalty.
