We came as two families both with children from 9 to 14. The rooms were side by side for each family which was nice and had their own pools. The buffet restaurant, reception, bars and pools were all close at hand. The staff were extremely good. All of them were happy, polite and helpful. The rooms were kept clean and the resort is well maintained. The hotel is located close to some quiet bars and restaurants which offered an alternative to the buffet restaurant. We booked the Italian and Greek restaurants which both had excellent food. The small harbour has a few boat trips and a little beach. The shops sell all the usual tourist stuff and if desired more can be found a few miles away in Malia. I hired a scooter and wen to the Heraklion which was about an hour, less in a car. I've never returned to the same resort as we like to try different places but I'd recommend this. Rooms were big and comfortable with great bedding. The selection of pools would keep everyone pleased and the entertainment albeit in several languages was fun.

Room Tip: Go for the rooms with their own pool.

Was here at this hotel for 11 nights in aug 15 as a couple.

Researched for a month then decided to book hotel due to its star ratings and reviews.

First of all the hotel is the best thing you get in the area otherwise its just a random village in sissi with limited nice restaurants and bars which are 5 min walk from vasia.

Pros......
Staff lovely
Rooms cleaned nicely up to good standards everyday
Variety of pools
Hotel ideal for families or a party of more than 4 ill say

Cons......
Food very poor breakfast always same
Lunch slightly better of them all

Dinner was similer to having a plane meal from a buffet very dissapointed ( i have been to many holidays in turkey before, even 3 star hotels had better food then vasia)
Number of bars for such big resort is very low

Bar drinks typcal all inclusive ready made from night before beer tastes like water wine was ok
Avoided bar through out stay luckily bought my own bottles.

Cats all around the resort gets annoying after a while
Hotel charges for safebox 30 euro
Charges penalty of 30 euro for lost towels
Charges 30 euro for extra 4 hour late checkout
Spa very over priced

Location of hotel is as if its in a place forgotton

Also very disspointed with Animation team always sad and not animators more like looking suicidal
Activities very basic and only pit up on board most not actually taken part of

İ am aware that i am been very crotical but the money spend which was 4 figures per person is definetly not worth it for here

Sissi is a nice quiet little village with not a lot that can be done ideal for big families who dont wanna explore or older generation i will say.

İ spent nearly 2000 £ visiting places catching taxi to places getting proper alcohol and food through out my stay from outside hotel and although i enjoyed the holiday the location of hotel and quality of food and the over priceness of pacakage hotel made me give it a 2 star rating.

Tips

Try avoid the area if you wanna see nice places such as malia, knossos ,herenosios ,elounda ,agia nikolais , anapolis which i loved as apart from malia they are all at least 1 hour by car mostly

Excursions limited as location of hotel very far always most excursions waste of money

Spinolaga was rubbish as its walking around a fortress

Crete highlights long day going on mountains to meaningless places apart from a monastry visit

Chriss island was good although far

My favorite was cretan night in anapolis defo worth the money spent and had good food along with performances from cretan dancers and good music

Hired a quad bike there no signs to tell you where to go no sat nav available from locals

Locals were always welcoming and always very helpfull and made us comfortable most restaurants were priced reasonable local bars didnt have amany choice of international drinks but they made good coctails

Beaches in sissi were bery dissapointing boufos all rocks and pebnles
Avlaki tiny with all rocks patamos in malia was basic

Best i been to was belonged to a hotel kriti where i had to walk over rocks to get to which was nice sand then again it was private and your not allowed unless you stay in that hotel.

Another dissapintment was that every beach we went to they charged €5 for sunbeds and pp

Traffic in crete is easy and fast and will recvomend quadbike or car along with the help of a satnav

Hope this review will help some of you

İ enjoyed my stay in crete but had to spend. Alot of money to do so after spending £1000 for a package and the money spend for the hotel is not worth it due to food and amenities and location all around hotel is just rocks nothing more .

Will reccomend the place for over 50s who wanna relax in a nice quiet little place .

But if you wanna visit and see places and expect good food and service might be in for a disspointment. Of course every person has diffrent standards from the services you get and expectatyions but the money spend is not worth for the hotel

Crete is a lovely island with many things to do but this hotel is over priced and location was not ideal for me places to visit and things to do were over 1 hr away

One last tip book excursions outside hotel we tried 2 diffrent locals both professional cheaper and didnt lack quality of the tour operater we went with

Try the nerolymos restaurant just above sisi bay and visit jolly jogger and check out the mini golf too defo do the happy train as its short little fun and defo so the cretan night. Visit chrissi island go to water city not aquaplus

İ didnt enjoy spinilonga, cretan highlights and aquaplus

Malia seemed nice but was empty as achools probably opened and not many youngster were around but i can see the potetial of the place when packed

İmages are view of hotels backside

Nice view is off sisi bay which is the best place in sissi really. And also its nice where the palm bay hotel is which is covered with palm trees

Long story short

İsolated area
Hotel over priced food basic animators useless
Location bad
No nice beaches

Therefore 2 stars i did better holidays in marmaris for half the money spend on better hotels

Dear sir/madam,

I read your review, which I find incorrect and misleading.

The hotel is always very clear regarding its policies, procedures, program descriptions (all info can be found in our official website, SENTIDO website and tour operator’s brochures).

Since you’ve made your research you were aware of all the below prior to your arrival:

1. International check out time is 12hrs. Later check out provided upon request with extra charge – why do you comment on this? This is an international standard that all travelers know.

2. Spa services – Room Wifi – Safe boxes are extra - again you were aware of all these. Don’t understand your comments.

3. The hotel is situated in the traditional fishing village of Sissi, 45km from Heraklion & 25km from Agios Nikolaos, in the heart of the sightseeing area. Heraklion airport is approximately 30 minutes away.

About 30 minutes away or less from the hotel are located many different attractions – just to name a few below:

- Heraklion City Centre/ Archaeological Museum
- Heraklion Port/ Koules Fortress
- Agios Nikolaos / Elounda/ Spinalonga island
- Milatos village + cave
- Lassithi Plateau/ Zeus Cave
- Malia – Stalis - Hersonissos
- Cretaquarium / Scuba diving / Cretan Golf / Watercity & so on…

Crete is the biggest island in Greece with numerous sightseeing areas. It’s impossible to see Crete in 12 days!! Being able to visit a great number of attractions in less than 30 minutes makes the hotel an ideal venue; your comments again are misleading and malicious! Honestly cannot understand the reason behind it!

4. SENTIDO Vasia Resort & Spa offers a main restaurant & 3 themed restaurants (Italian, Mediterranean, Gourmet), 6 bars (Pool Bar, Lobby Bar, Tropical Bar, Blue Bar, Cotton Club, The Players Club), a night club with aquariums – your comment about the bars is once again incorrect.

5. Regarding your comment about the food variety please note that at main restaurant during dinner we offer the below:

- extensive bread selection
- around 20 different salads
- around 30 different hot options
- live cookery demonstration selection
- more than 10 different desserts
- ice-creams
- cheeses

Further, at Dionysos Main Restaurant we offer 14 different themed nights per 2 weeks - every night different theme and different menu.

Of course ‘not everything is All Inclusive’ - we are not selling a high priced holiday package difficult to afford.

We are offering a ’value for money’ holiday package, with a variety of facilities, good services and a quality food & beverage program. At the same time, there are extra services and facilities on offer (e.g. specific drinks, spa treatments, gourmet menus, etc.) , that are available to those guests that wish to use them.

We recognize the needs of our guests, the different tastes & requests, and therefore we are trying to do our best, by offering a wide & varied choice of services & facilities within the hotel. We are aware that no matter our efforts we can never please everybody. Therefore, all guests’ comments are welcome; but your malicious and senseless report makes us suspicious of your intentions.

As soon as you arrive here the first thing you notice is how friendly the staff are. We had a warm welcome from George in Reception.
The rooms are very clean and comfortable with air conditioning.
The hotel restaurant has a large buffet, and there are fresh Greek dishes available as well as a range of choices of food suitable for all tastes and ages. With so much choice it was impossible to choose just one dish! My travelling companion was very impressed that they also catered for her gluten free diet, with some dishes labeled as gluten free.
The Greek Restaurant on the seafront where we went one evening had amazing views of the sea, but the food was not as good as the hotel buffet. The Kleftico had only four small cubes of very tough meat in it, however the local cat seemed to enjoy it.
There is a large range of drinks available form the bars throughout the day, all were included in our package up until 11pm.
The animation team were amazing and inspirational. We will miss Kate's Stretch, Zumba and Aqua Gym classes, which were most enjoyable and helped us feel healthy and entertained.
The evening entertainment is also excellent. The comedy night and the performance of Mama Mia were great fun.
I would definitely recommend this hotel as there is something for all ages. It is also a very family friendly hotel, with plenty of activities for small children and teens alike.

I have to say this has to be one of the best hotels I have ever been to and had the pleasure of staying ,All round Hot 5 star service from everyone who works , very well organised Hotel with what must be fantastic communication from the senior managers down to the staff who take such pride in there running of this very well mannered clean friendly and respectful hotel, I don't think out of a holiday in terms of being looked after and catered for that we could have asked for more.
Everyone speaks very good English and good eye contact is made when communicating from everyone who plays a part in working for the Vasia.
We had the pleasure of staying in room 1620 and in my opinion it was the best room in the hotel, we paid that little bit extra for a private pool and we certainly got what we paid for ,it was like having our own villa for the week absolutely beautiful and very clean and private ,the all inclusive was excellent and you got what you paid for what was a variety of classic dishes everyday there was something different for everyone the food and service was excellent , the drinks were fine also regardless of how people complain about them on trip advisor, the local beer was great and the range of local spirits were fine and welcomed, people who complain about the drinks not been strong enough need to go to Blackpool for a holiday as I would not be happy to sit around people and watch the effects after they have been drinking Stella all day or Smirnoff etc... This is why the hotel is respectful because it has no drunks walking around causing trouble because they have had to much to drink, trust me the drinks were more then fine regardless of what people say, the hotel offers a spa session and treatment which is to be paid for separate which is fair enough And also has a large gym which is free to use, there is entertainment every night at the Cotten club where all the reps work hard to keep everyone happy, seriously the place and hotel is great and would recommend it to anyone, there was a Thomas Cook rep on-site called Clint who if he wasn't there you could contact him at anytime of the day phone or txt and he would answer you with your concerns, we booked a trip through them for a place called Spina longer island which was a boat trip, well worth the money excellent and very enjoyable,
We personally never moved off site only to go to the shops or a walk round and you have everything you need around you.
If you want a nice quite chilled out break with scorching weather in a clean well staffed and well mannered hotel with good choice of food and drink then this is the place for you,my only negative would be for them to have a separate smoking area for eating and drinking this would be of benefit going forward for them as not everyone smokes and wants to smell it but complete 5***** service and hotel a big thank you for our great room 1620 and our great service and a very special thank you which I hope the hotel acknowledges to our cleaner whose name Nenatia ( small with glasses) was outstanding in her job role who more then looked after Us and our room daily with a great smile and very friendly , thank you very very much you was great !!!
Would definite return thanks

Firstly I write on tripadvisor to give an honest review from me, it is not meant to upset management but to help travellers decide if it is for them and to help the hotel improve if they want to...and they should be able to take constructive criticism as if they are not aware there is a problem they then have the opportunity to correct it....as I see from some of the replies from management that they are abrupt in their response when travellers on here are giving an honest review, as people like us that have paid thousands yes thousands of pounds for this holiday.

Again like another reviewer I thought we had researched this resort as best we could but obviously not! and either did not take note or missed some of the small stuff and it was exactly this...the small little things that did not make this holiday the best we have ever had. Yes we chose the hotel yes we booked it but we also paid good money for it and expected a lot better to be honest.

*THE NEGATIVES *were informed by the rep that the star rating is given for facilities NOT for anything else and this yes they meet the criteria i.e it had seven pools but you can never get a sunbed after a certain time! Yes it has a gym but this has no air con the only enclosed space in the resort, there is a spa and you obviously pay for treatments I asked to use the pools which are separate from the main pools and was the only bit of adult sanctuary to be informed that it would cost €50 pp for 90mins it was explained that the pools were freshwater and something else that slips my mind and you could have a sauna and use the steamroom ect....what if I didn't want 90mins? and wanted to use it more than once? think we'd paid enough for the holiday as it was so declined. A caged AstroTurf pitch that was poor but hey my son played on it, pool bar with ping pong and darts, kids machines which require payment, snacks poor, pool tables in the players bar and cotton club again required payment and in poor condition if they were working. As mentioned in previous reviews all drinks whether alcoholic or not in the lobby bar, tropical bar ect of poor quality, no fresh juices only at breakfast and only one sugar free option that being coke, beer 1%! disgraceful really you have to be honest, and I don't even drink it! I had a bad stomach the whole two weeks can't blame food or drink but have been ok since returning home? Food....plentiful and varied but tasteless and bland rep asked what could be improved? put some flavour in there and provide more traditional Greek dishes i.e a big pot of stiffado would have been ideal and simple, think the food was overthought, overcomplicated and underseasoned! The huge well stocked supermarket next door is making a small fortune for sure...as like many others we were able to stock up on snacks and decent drinks when the AI finished and yes the staff were rude and constantly watching you going around making you feel uncomfortable! We spent a lot of unnecessary hard earned cash in there, luckily again and fortunate to be able to do so we went into the port of sissi quite a few times day and night for a decent meal and drink and to escape as another reviewer has said the 'Butlins' feel of this place, at its capacity which I understand is 1200 mainly children being school holidays of course.

*THE POSITIVES* The hotel is very clean all around the maids do an amazing job even picking my 14yr old Son's mess up from the floor, always happy and smiling you should be very proud of them and treasure them, all of the staff were great in all the bars and the waiting staff also, I understand they are not very well paid but they work so hard the reception staff were helpful and friendly we were due to leave after midnight for an early morning flight so having checked out at mid day which was not a problem for us, we were not going to pay to keep the room we spoke to reception on the advice of our rep as we did not arrive until 3.30 in the morning on the first/second day so felt a bit aggrieved we had missed out a little, we were given towels and allowed to use the communal showers and use the AI food and drink until 11pm so as a tip you don't get unless you ask politely, don't pay if you don't feel you should have to. Special mentions to Mike in the reception bar who kept my husband chatting over football and the drinks flowing until the 11pm cut off and was very professional I felt a bit sorry for him when guests arrived at 11pm to be Informed the AI was finished although bar open until 1am but you would have to pay overinflated prices for poor drinks he handled this part his job extremely well, either stock up at the supermarket before 11pm or the bars on the main road are open a bit later, the animation team did a great job my Son really enjoyed the daytime entertainment great for Children however the evening entertainment left a lot to be desired and we chose to go out or sit on our balcony with a coffee and baileys brought from the supermarket!

To summarise fab staff, hardworking and very clean we will personally not do all inclusive again as not for us anymore will be a private villa for us next year and we can choose and buy the food, drink and entertainment and not feel aggrieved by the extra £500 we spent on this holiday, such a shame as a few little tweaks, if the content of this review is taken on board rather than scowled at. Fab for families with younger children which it is mainly aimed at.

Room Tip: There are lots of different rooms but didn't see any of the others so unable to compare.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please note that we always encourage guests to share their experience, whether good or bad with us; also constructive reviews are more than welcome.

But your report was the opposite; misleading, incorrect and inimical.
- All enclosed facilities (e.g Dionysos restaurant, Spa, Gym, Meeting room etc.) are fully air-conditioned. You were inaccurate on this.

- The hotel offers 8 outdoor swimming pools with plenty of space, parasols and sun beds for all the guests. Your comment regarding the capacity is very strange, considering that even in high season these facilities are more than adequate.( Still, if you faced an issue of availability, all you had to do was ask for some extra sun beds!)

- As advertised on our official web site, Spa treatments consist extra service for those who wish to use them! Therefore they are on extra charge!

- Last but not least, Dionysos (main restaurant) provides daily 8 different Greek dishes! Therefore your comment about lack of Greek specialties in our menu is false and misleading.

To sum up, we accept any positive or negative comments, but we can't allow reviews, that are creating false impressions to the future guests!
Once again thank you for your review.
