I'm Icelandic and have been in the restaurant business for just over 3 years in Reykjavik. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was amazing! Everything that they can get fresh they'll get fresh. The people with me had hamburgers (3 varieties) which were some of the best burgers that I've had. Their food is really cheap considering what you are getting. You will get more than you pay for. The servers could've been a bit more attentive. They are forgiven since the food and atmosphere was so good. Note, I didn't stay at the Hotel only stopped there for supper.

We spent our second last night in Iceland here before heading into Reyjkavik.
Had a very enjoyable stay.....rooms were decent size as were the bathrooms...well lit with adequate storage and comfortable. Shower floors were very slippery so caution is needed. All very clean. Free wifi in rooms.
Staff were friendly and personable.
Breakfast was Icelandic standard with scrambled eggs added.
We had dinner here and enjoyed it...aside from 4 or 5 entrees ( fish, lamb, horse etc ), they offered a variety of pizza like toppings on either naan bread or corn tortillas...these were excellent and made for a very nice change of pace.
It is a working farm and you can help feed the. baby lambs if you like...a couple of very friend labs as well
Its about 90 minutes from cente of Reyjkavikbut a world away..just of Highway 1 but very quiet

We arrived late in the evening and fell so in love with the place that we wish we could've stayed more than just the night! We immediately made use of the hot tubs and said hello to the farm's sheep. The scenery was stunning, the room clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere serene. The only down side was that the internet appears to shut off when the hotel staff leave the front desk for the night. I would definitely stay here again though.

Room Tip: We stayed in the main hotel and loved it but there were several adorable cabins available for rent, too.

We stayed in the Hraunsnef Country Hotel for one night in July 2014 as part of a family trip across Iceland. As soon as we arrived we could see that it was a nice place. It is a slightly ramshackle set of farm buildings with one central block of rooms and some cottages. It is well set for children as you are encouraged to help feed the goats/chickens etc.

We had a good evening meal, better than many in Iceland but somewhat expensive. We stayed in the cottage second from the top and we really liked it. It can sleep six if you are very friendly - we were three people and very comfortable. It is distinctly rural without mod cons. The bathroom was very small but functional. There are two hot tubs in the hotel and they were well used and very pleasant. Sitting in the hot tub we saw an amazing rainbow as it actually stopped raining for a bit!

The breakfast was a disappointment (and has led to the four star rating for this review). Bearing in mind that this is a farm with chickens the breakfast as pretty dismal. Some overcooked scrambled eggs, some uninspiring looking meat and cheese and some tired cereals. Little fresh fruit, no fresh eggs and no fresh pastries.

The staff were very friendly, and despite the breakfast I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The cottages are excellent

Came there to celebrate my mother in law birthday with a group of people. We had 3 corses and they were all very tasty. We had vegetable soup, lamb/beef and ice-cream and everybody were so happy with they're food :) And the service was grate. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
