“Rainbows, Waterfalls and an Amazing Space to Land”
Reviewed 3 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

This home was a perfect space. It would easily be comfortable for 6 people. It was impeccably clean. The kitchen was well equipped. The views were stunning from every corner of the house. Heidi, the owner, was very responsive to all questions. She always responded within 15 minutes of any email I sent. We plan to return sometime in the future and would recommend this property to anyone.

Borganes, the town nearby, is lovely. The restaurant at the Settlement Center was amazing. The local swimming center - pool and hot tubs was wonderful.

We could have spent our entire week relaxing in this little town. The house is situated along the Langa River. This was an unexpected plus. The river is incredibly beautiful. We aren't fisherman, but still enjoyed all the beauty. If you like to fish salmon this is a great spot to be. I'm sure you have to obtain a license, but gosh its amazing. We did see jumping salmon. Haefell, the Icelandic Goat Center, was one of our favorite stops. Snaefellsnes peninsula is a lovely day trip. Rainbows and waterfalls are everywhere you turn.

“Perfect!!”
Reviewed 7 March 2016 for a stay in April 2015

Stayed here for 2 weeks in April 2015. The house is beautiful, clean and tidy. The house is open plan and full of ceiling to floor windows which truly allows you to appreciate the landscape. We were fortunate enough to see the Northern lights and the house is in the perfect location to see them. The house is in the perfect place to explore west Iceland and is about an hours drive from Reykjavik. Can't recommend this holiday rental enough.

The location is very good to explore West Iceland and as you mention in your fantastic review that it´s not really far from Reykjavík and South Iceland, only about one hour and just under an hour to drive in the other direction towards Snæfellsnes peninsular which was voted one of Iceland top five location to visit. There are many hiking trails from the house and hope you where able to use the hiking information package we send to our guests... :)

“Lovely, spacious accomodation for an extended family”
Reviewed 26 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We stayed at the cottage as an extended family of 5 adults, all with a comfortable bed. The accomodation is spacious with a single bathroom, outside shower and good kitchen facilities.
This is an ideal location for exploring the best of West Iceland and we were able to see the environment with both heavy snow and bright warm sunshine. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the Hot Tub listening to the Snipe, Geese and Ptarmigan - watching the Northern Lights with a glass of Icelandic beer! We believe we saw some footprints of an Arctic Fox locally were lucky to see the Iceburgs at the end of the road. Thank you for enabling us to have a really enjoyable and memorable visit to lovely Iceland!

“Unique location to start your Icelandic discovery”
Reviewed 8 February 2015 for a stay in June 2014

Having traveled for several years [with and without child(ren)] we can only endorse all the positive comments made already here.
During our 2nd stay in Iceland, we were happy to call Helluskogur our "Icelandic home" for 2 weeks. Not only its unique location (with a waterfall and the impressive Langá so near), but also the home decor was simply overwhelming. The house has an open character and is built smart so that landscape, weather and light can be enjoyed day and night. Inside, all equipment is of very high quality and nicely organized, including some great toys for the kids, art and literature. From here, even with young children who don't allow to make long distance trips, you can discover West-Iceland's nicest natural beauties and at the same time remain connected with the city of Reykjavik. A beautiful map of Iceland on one of the inner-walls inside allows to start dreaming about great trips one can make in Iceland. But this house is definitely one of the best places to start an IS-discovery.
Rob and Heidi, you have been amazing hosts for us. Thanks so much for your hospitality and good luck with all your activities.
Kindest regards
Dirk M

“Perfect stay”

We stayed for 4 nights at the end of October. We were a group of 5 adults and a baby.
The correspondence I had with Heidi and Rob prior to arrival was very helpful and prompt and their directions were clear.
We found the accomodation to a very high standard and felt instantly at home. We arrived late at night and woke up the next day to see the breathtaking views from the many windows.
The standard of fixtures, cleanliness and overall design was to a very high standard. It has a very sociable layout and everything you could need for preparing meals was availale in the kitchen.
The hot tup was an added bonus for us and spent nights sat in it, very warm while the weather outside was freezing. Due to the lacation there are wonderful views of the stars and we saw shooting stars and a glimse of the Northern Lights.
It was a great loaction to get to Reykjavik, Geysir etc and we hired a van and went off exploring. It is a convenient base to leave from and even longer distances were no problem as the roads are so quiet and well maintained.
Our only wish is that we had booked a longer stay. I can't rate it high enough. Thank you.

“Perfect house, lived up to every expectation”

Just returned from a terrific week in this lovely house. It was perfect for our family group of 6 adults, and so welcoming to come back to after everything that Iceland weather can throw at you!

It is beautifully designed and an absolute pleasure to be in. We loved everything:
Large entrance for all the boots and coats
Main space full of light which works perfectly for sitting / eating / cooking together, with quality appliances throughout
Bedrooms comfy, clean and fresh
Really spacious bathroom with fabulous shower
Lighting! Switches and dimmers galore to get any lighting effect you want, including for all the decking areas outside
Underfloor heating throughout, so toasty
Not forgetting the 7-seater hot tub... Pretty special to float in it looking up at the stars and waiting for the Northern Lights (which we saw!)

The location was great for us, with access to the fantastic Snaefellsnes peninsula as well as day trips to Reykjavik and the northern part of the Golden Circle.

The owners are lovely and so helpful.

One little thing - if arriving for the first time in the dark (when you can't easily see the distinctive house shape), take extra care to look at maps ahead of time. We were very glad that we had checked with Google Streetview and were able to look out for the big grey box on the left of the road which pinpointed where to turn right through the open red gates / cattle grid (and then quickly left again along the little drive to the house). Hope this helps!
