“Good breakfast”
Reviewed 17 October 2013

Small rooms and clean but a bit worn. One level with patio that backed on golf course and beautiful view of mountains. Something for everyone as breakfast. A little noisy with lots of voices in the hall until close to midnight.

We stayed here for one night as part of a group on a bus tour. This hotel is north of Borgames, adjacent to a golf course and nothing else. Miles from anywhere. Hotel is pleasant enough - a fairly standard Iceland hotel. Free wifi in the lobby, but we also managed to access it in our room. We had a set menu dinner & breakfast included in our package – meals were fine, though the dessert was tiny!

This was a good hotel, and we had a very clean and spacious room with nice views but it wasn't our favourite in Iceland. We had a mountain view which was pretty spectacular but there was a digger just outside which wasn't ideal, luckily it wasn't directly in front of our windows so was ok. The hot tubs were great and there was no one around during the day so myself and partner had it all to ourselves. Friendly staff and Borgarnes is really nice (although we had a hire car so could drive into town). We even saw the Northern Lights one night after driving to a dark spot just across the bridge. Breakfast was extra so we didn't have it as it's pretty expensive. There are some good fast food places in town as well as a big supermarket. We stayed in Borgarnes for a couple of nights during a week long trip thinking it wasn't too far from Reykjavik and we might have a better chance at seeing the lights. It was the right choice and I really liked Borgarnes, particularly the Settlement Centre. As for the hotel- I think we'd try somewhere else if we were to go there again.

Room Tip: Mountain view is definitely the best!

Had a stopover before heading back to reykjavik on a tour, got dropped off at the hotel at 4pm was a little bit early so we thought we might get to walk around town for a bit, turned out this hotel was in the middle of nowhere but a gold course next to us! Takes another 10-15 mins drive into Borgarnes. Room was at decent size (room 122) they mixed up our extra bed it was placed in another group mates room, they moved the sofa bed into our room and we saw there were yellow stain on the mattress and the so called extra bed or sofa bed was not presentable at all, very disgusting. Dinner was served at the hotel restaurant and that was the best part of the whole experience. We had salmon as starter, chicken as main course and chocolate brownies as dessert.

The hotel is not a walking distance to de centre town of Borgarnes. It is just of the road 1, close to a Golf Course.
Our room had mountains/ Golf views and was spacious and clean. The double bed was comfortable but the extra-bed was not.
No free wi-fi in rooms so you need to go to the reception or restaurant area to stay connected.
Expensive restaurant. We had a dinner at The Settlement Centre and the food was good and reasonable priced.
Good breakfast but expresso coffe only at extra-charge!
The staff was kind.
The hotel is clearly good for big group tours but not particularly charming for individual tourists. Not a special stay to be remembered.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with views to the mountains. The others have views to the parking...

Our tour group took us to Hotel Hamar for two nights. The room was very comforable and large. The decor was somewhat spartan, and we were given a bottle of "wash soap" that was supposed to be used as soap and shampoo. No cream rinse was provided. There was no alarm clock in the room and we didn't receive a wake up call two days in a row. It seems that our room phone wasn't working and the staff was very apologetic when we informed them of the problem.
We had dinner two nights there with our group and the food was just OK.

We stayed here one night as part of our Iceland Complete Tour. It served our purposes nicely. The rooms were nice containing everything we needed. Service was pleasant and the food very good. We had no problems here andwould stay again if part of the tour.
