Okay so the Old Capitol was great to see. The issue is they just don't have the funding to really show case this historical site.
The tour guide was awful..... end of story.

“Tour Guides are Great”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014

This is always a favorite stop in Springfield. Just knowing the Lincoln tried cases before the state Supreme Court here and served as a legislator there is inspiring. The guides the day we visited were wonderful. We arrived before the building opened. As the guard was opening the gates to the grounds, he asked if we were planning to come in. When we said yes, he opened the building up before returning to open the remaining gates. Once inside, we wandered around, and another guide opened up the library, invited us in, and shared a story with my 9 year old son about the hand-drawn map discovered in the floor boards. She held his attention and asked him many questions to keep his interest. We really enjoyed our visit!

“Quick visit.”

We went here after the current Capitol, and it was disappointing. Maybe if we had had a guide it would have been more interesting and meaningful. The building has some lovely furnishings.

“A Glimpse Back in Time”

Film is rather long but very informative. You do not need a guide to tour this facility.Signs tell the story. Best: the chamber where Lincoln gave his "House Divided" speech. If you do not do the film, you can do this stop is less than an hour. But learning about the massive restoration of the building is fascinating.

“Great Place to Visit”

Gives good information about Lincoln's life before he became president. There was a gentleman who was dressed in a union army uniform gave an excellent presentation about the soldiers life during the war.
