We spent the night here while in Springfield for a funeral. The front desk staff on August 31st, was very helpful with places to go for dinner, letting us read all the menus she had while offering suggestions in town. The rooms were nice, clean and comfortable except for the air conditioning which did not work. After calling down to the desk, we were moved to another room in which one did work and got an apology from her also, wasn't her fault that they did not work, but she was very gracious about it. The next morning I went down for coffee and snack to take to the room while relaxing before we had to leave. The selection was not much but it was a bit to tide us over til lunch. The location was nice and quiet and we would stay there again as we would like to come back to do explore more as the town seemed to have a lot to offer.

If you're visiting the Lincoln Museum and want a clean, comfortable and updated stay, the Carpenter Street is within walking distance. Although the lobby is not as spacious (who cares), the rooms (which appear to have been recently updated) are on a scale with HIE and Hampton for a lot less dough. Tabitha at the front desk not only put me on to a great restaurant, but gave me a 10% off coupon. If I'm ever back in Springfield, this is my hotel choice.

Room Tip: Avoid room 115. Its next to an exit and a bit noisy during early evening.

Our tour group stayed here for two nights as we visited many of the Lincoln historical sites. Rooms are very spacious and immaculately clean. Staff was very friendly and courteous.
"Hot breakfast" is included in the room rates. The first morning it was pretty disappointing (just biscuits and gravy); the second morning we hit the jackpot, with cheesy scrambled eggs and browned potatoes. Maybe just a matter of personal preference...
The hotel is central to many historic sites. It's an easy walk to the Lincoln Presidential Museum and the old train depot, and not too far to the Old State Capitol and Lincoln-Herndon Law Office.
No pool, in case that's a priority for you. The Fitness Center looked well-maintained, but I didn't use it.

Room Tip: My room was at the far back of the hotel, on third floor, so very quiet. (Ask for Room 319!)

We stayed in this hotel 4 nights. It was clean, quiet, and all of the employees we had contact with were very friendly and extremely helpful. The lobby/ breakfast room made a great place to meet friends and make new ones. The coffee pot always on in the lobby was a great touch! We will definitely stay there again!

You won't easily find this hotel against the backdrop of all the national chains. However, give this property a second look; you will be pleased. Rates are affordable as there is no frachise fee that has to be paid. It's location is close to everything downtown in the historic district and within walking distance (convenient). The rooms are big and spacious, clean, great towels, beds comfortable, great pillows, and quiet (rooms specific and hotel in general). Our room had a mini frig and microwave which was very convenient. This is not the place for unbrittled little kids. But for those with teenagers on up or empty nesters, this is the place to stay. It is so quiet, you will feel like you have the place to yourself. The staff is personable and outgoing. The breakfast was good and each day something different is featured. We would definitely stay here the next time we visit Springfield. In fact, we would gladly recommend this property to others.

We spent one night here in a king room. It was clean and updated and the bathtub and shower looked brand new. The standards in the room are much more upscale than the building would lead you to believe. There is a chair and ottoman, a desk and ergonomic chair and a comfortable bed with white bedding.

The room also has a mini-fridge, microwave and coffeepot.

Breakfast was standard free fare with two hot dishes, scrambled eggs with cheese and potatoes.

I had a bagel and coffee which is my usual but my husband enjoyed the eggs and potatoes.

I was very pleased with the friendliness of the staff, the Internet connection, the variety of TV channels offered and the quality of the room overall. I would definitely stay here again.

Family stayed at Carpenter Street Hotel in June. We were in town for a family member's surgery at Memorial Medical Center. Hotel is very close to all the hospitals in Springfield within a few blocks. Staff was very friendly and accomodated our every request. Hotel was clean, rooms nice. Breakfast was adequate. Rate per night was decent. I would stay again.
