“A must see”

The tour stays on schedule so be on time. Ladies dressed in period clothing are on the lawn playing games of the day. The house is very interesting and gives a real insight into the President and his family.

“Excellent Sense of Time and Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014

The visitors center is excellent. Great book store and useful map exhibits. You can't go into Lincoln's home, but you can other restored structures and they give you a good sense of place--along with simple lessons in historical preservation.

It is a simple historical site, worthy of the great man.

“Very neat experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2014

We stopped in and got one of the first tours , our tour guide was awesome , it was wonderful to learn all about Lincoln and his time before he became president. Going inside of his house and seeing the furniture he sat on and touching the hand rail he touched was really neat , the kids loved it and so did I

“Must see!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 July 2014

We toured the Lincoln home and neighborhood. The home tour was free and led by a National Park Service Ranger. She was very engaging and did a great job. Plan to arrive early - tickets are free but they can sell out. We got there at 10:45 and our tickets were for the 1:20 tour. There is plenty to see and do at the Visitors Center (where you get your tickets) and Lincoln's Law Office and the Old State Capital building are within walking distance.

“Free Tour!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2014

My husband and I got to the Visitor Center right when it opened and received a ticket for a tour in 45 minutes. We went into the Gift Shop and felt they need to update some of the items they had there. We then went into a video that was called Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Homage. It was a little odd series of videos and promotions. I really felt like they should update some of it, as it looks like 80's or 90's some of it was made. However, if it will break the bank, don't bother, as we want to keep this site free forever. We went to the tour and it was very nice. You really get to see all of the house and can step into most rooms very easily. I thought it was very nice. The other neat thing about the area is that the whole street and area is considered historical and the houses are in the time period of when Lincoln would have been there. You could spend quite a long time there.
