This place is fun! They had interesting exhibits which change periodically. It is free and everyone that works there is very nice. It is a small place;don't expect to be there long. The museum consists of basement full of interactive things for children. 1st floor, environmental exhibit and the 2nd floor has a special art exhibit as well as other historical objects(like the telephone).

This museum has some interesting stuff in it. There is a fossil and bone collection, various mounted animals, a kids area in the basement, a Native American display, and an art gallery. The guy at the front desk gave us a brief introduction to the various displays and where they were located, which was helpful. I would return here again.

Check this museum out on the weekends to take advantage of the free parking that you wouldn't be able to avoid on the weekdays. There is visitor free parking located behind boones saloon. Don't miss the children's museum in the basement and the super Saturday events for kids 3 to 10 years of age. We loved this museum. Very friendly staff. Was pleased to see that the exhibits rotate out on the second floor. We never get tired of this free museum. Thanks.

Returned to Illinois museum for first time in 15 years. Roamed around for 2 hours not noticing the time pass by as I absorbed all the displays and information. The Native American exhibit was and still is my favorite.
