Museum - We took two 9 year old grandchildren. We all were very impressed. Fun, educational. The design and flow of the museum is wonderful. Movies are more than a movie with lifelike people. This exceeded our expectations. The Springfield Chamber visitor center was extremely helpful. Definitely caters to tourists in a positive way. We'll be back.

If you only have a couple of hours to explore "something Lincoln" in Springfield, Illinois, this is it!!!! You will not be disappointed. Make sure to see the two theatre shows within the museum. Outstanding! Also, as you walk through the museum, sit down and watch the short Civil War movie. This movie shows a map of the USA, where and when the battles happened in chronological order, and there is a ticker showing how many were killed in each battle right up until the end. It gave me chills! I'm not even a history buff, and this museum was one of the most entertaining and educational sites I have ever experienced. Great for all ages! You will love it!!!

Compared to the current presidential libraries, this was very different. Located in Illinois capital city, Springfield, which is a very small town for a capital city. They maintained the heritage and preserved the home where Lincoln raised his family and became the president. This was not the log home where he was born. Came to know is much about his character and how humble he was. The short movie is a must see to know the history and the politics in those times. It is free admission to all visitors, per Lincoln's son's wishes. I'd definitely recommend this. One could do a day trip from Chicago to see this place, the Capitol and the Lincoln's monument (burial ground), which are also highly recommended.

We visited this library on our way to Kentucky and was very impressed with the exhibits and information provided. They really make Lincoln's contributions come to life with well illustrated exhibits and film presentations. I would recommend this library for all age groups and the price for admission is reasonable.
