“Frank Lloyd Wright's little seen Gem!”
Reviewed 23 October 2011

This home started as a remodel job! In Wright fashion he saved only the study of the original structure. It is one of the best collections of original Wright furnishings. This large home was done early in his career, but a wonderful example of Wright's development of his Prairie Style architecture. Definitely a must see!

“Be Sure to Check if Opened”
Reviewed 27 September 2011

Make sure you check the website or call to ensure the house is open. The caretaker said it's closed for renovation until the end of the year, while the website says mid-2011.

“Best thing to see in springfield!”
Reviewed 30 July 2011

Everybody comes here for the lincoln stuff...i get it. But my favorite thing to do in Springfield is the dana thomas house. My kids have always liked it too ...a house with a bowling alley is just cool.

“Beautifully restored & furnished American architectural gem”
Reviewed 24 November 2010

A magnificent example of America's foremost architect of the 20th century -- Frank Lloyd Wright. Outshines many other Wright sites -- lavish, exotic, original, clever, beautiful. Very important cultural and historic site. Reveals a delightful and fascinating aspect of Springfield history, which is so dominated by 19th century (also wonderful) Lincoln-related sites. Very intact. Children will be awed, as well.

“Something isn't right”
Reviewed 15 November 2010

Incredible architecture, craftsmanship, and artwork. But the house is definately off/not quite right/dark. Maybe even evil? Unusual use of space with turns, nooks, crannies, draperies, intentionally shadowed and darkened pockets. Actually gave me the creeps.
