“National cemetery for soldiers and families since Civil War”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

Very impressive soldiers and families only starting with soldiers from both sides of the Civil War. If you have never seen a Veterans cemetery it is quite sobering and stately. Very well kept. We took a driving tour since we had 2 people who couldn't walk well. Very good for every American--we all need to be reminded.

“Beautiful Cemetary”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

We visited at friends grave and what a beautifully taken care of cemetery. It was so amazing to see row after row of white stones and how well manicured the landscape was. It was nice they had a place you could enter a persons name and find their grave stone.

“In need of care!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2014

Buried my mother with my father and sister 4 years ago ! To this date not one blade of grass grows in the area where they are buried, The ground is hard and has deep cracks in the ground, When my sister passed away we bought a brass vase that is placed at the grave and is anchored at the grave site, The Vase was destroyed when my father was buried next to my sister, Staff was made aware and was replaced. When my mother was buried there 4 years ago, the 2nd vase was destroyed and to this day has not been replaced!!
My parents were involved in several veterans groups and spent both Memorial and Veterans Day at Camp Butler, Mother organized the avenue of flags. As a child was instructed this is where they wanted to be buried it WAS such a beautiful place. It saddens me to see what has become of Camp Butler National Cematary

“Trip to Springfield to Lincoln's Museum”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2014

Spent about an hour walking around the cemetery looking at different areas of it. There was a new wall it place in a newer area of the cemetery, we weren't sure what it was for.

“Sad Remembrances”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2013

As you drive slowly through the Cemetery seeing all of the perfectly lined headstones, you feel both sadness at the loss and pride in the accomplishments of these fine Americans.
