This Museum is not grandiose by any means, but it is very interesting. One of the treasures here is the wooden leg of Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. Santa Anna lead the charge against the Alamo and it is said he ordered the killing of Davy Crockett and the rest of the soldiers in the Alamo. There have been protests by the Mexican Government demanding the return of the leg. The Museum is a very quiet place which gives one some real time to reflect on the meaning of the things inside the museum. There is no charge, but they do take a donation. It is located on the north side of Springfield, and is a very short drive, no more than a mile, from Oak Ridge Cemetery, the site of Lincoln's tomb. If you are at the Cemetery, go ahead and drop by, you can make it a quick visit if there are time constraints.
