Very nice place great for families. Close to Blue Lagoon. Very friendly. Good place as a home base to explore the area.
Grindavik is 20 minutes from Keflavik airport, one of the main reasons we chose it since our return flight was a o'god o'clock in the morning. Also, we'd been to Iceland before, just not in these Southern regions. Since we only had a 3 night stay, Einar's guesthouse was perfect for us. The accommodation is basically 1 huge room with a high ceiling, where the beds are partitioned off. The toilet/shower is to the rear of the room.
The double bed was very comfortable with a memory foam feel & the kids said that the bunk bed (double lower tier, single upper) was very good, too. The linen provided was clean & fresh, so were the towels. Spare pillows & blankets were in the wardrobe next to the bed.
The second reason we chose this type of accommodation was because we wanted to self cater as much as possible, eating out is criminally expensive in Iceland. The little fridge was clean & had enough space for milk, cold meats etc. Pots, pans, crockery, cutlery etc was provided. The 2 hotplates worked.
A lifesaver when travelling with teenagers, the wifi was great & satellite television had English language channels.
There is a bar/restaurant just beside the complex & it did get a bit loud until the early hours on Sunday morning, but nothing excessive.
