“Kanturinn - A great find”
Reviewed 14 April 2013

I believe that this restaurant is now called Kanturinn. We stumbled upon it after a visit to the Blue Lagoon, and were pleasantly surprised. The food was very good. Three of us had the lamb burgers, which were delicous, and one of us had a Thai dish, which was also very good. Turns out the cook is Thai, so it's no surprise that there were several Thai dishes on the menu, and that they are all probably good. They also had a good selection of local beers. The server was very helpful, recommending a few other restaurants and bars in Reykjavik, and he also offered us a try of the fermented shark and Black Death.

“Kanturin Viking Restaurant might be a new name for Lukku Laki”
Reviewed 12 June 2012

Excellent food the server was very friendly. The pan fried cod and curry were excellent.

As we were leaving our server asked if we wished to sample shark. He generously offered everyone a taste followed by a shot of schnapps. It was the highlight of our night! Thank you

“Great Luck at Lukku Laki”
Reviewed 2 August 2008

It was our last night in Iceland and we were hungry for a really good meal. We were staying at the Blue Lagoon Clinic just 6km down the road and not at all in the mood for a fussy meal. We wandered into Grindavik and stopped a local woman walking her dog and asked where we could get a good home cooked meal. She suggested Lukku Laki and we were thrilled by the fresh river caught wild salmon, simply prepared without any fussy sauce. Our lamb chops were tender and free range for sure with a really flavorful herbed mushroom gravy (we are not really gravy people but this was fabulous). It came with a fresh feta cheese salad and a homey baked potato with an herbed butter on the side. We almost left before dessert, but the wonderful owner brought us over a complimentary chocolate mousse with fresh toasted hazelnuts! The best mousse we have had and one of the best meals in Iceland. The music was a great selection of jazz and blues. The owner shared his stories of cooking for the Clint Eastwood stunt team from the movie Flags of our Fathers. This is a place not to be missed!
