“Quaint seafood place”

Full bar, downstairs for guests, upstairs was a christening and large group must have had 30 people or more. Romantic, candlelit, fish & chips is large portion for decent price. Staff friendly, would return.

“Why would you go anywhere else?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2014 via mobile

Delicious food, quaint & cozy dining room, kind & hospitable service, and the owner / chef is delightful! The fresh halibut was the best we've EVER had, and the salted cod was GREAT--especially the celery root side dish! And the lobster soup with the mound of creme fraiche in the middle--YUM! Please eat here--you'll be so glad you did!

“Hospitality Galore”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

We were staying at the Blue Lagoon Hotel and Clinic (March 6th 2014) (a great experience) and we were looking for recommendations on dinner options. We had spent the entire day at the Blue Lagoon lounging in the waters and wanted to venture out for something new. The concierge at the hotel recommended the Salthusid as a local spot with great food. When we heard they would even pick us up at the hotel and transport us back, we were sold. Our pick up arrived promptly at 5 pm and it turned out it was the owner of the Salthusid who was serving as our chauffeur. He asked us if we were in a rush and if we wanted to see a little bit of the town. What followed was a personal tour 25/30 minutes through the village he had grown up in and fished out of for 20 years. The stories, the shipwrecks, the lighthouse - we even got to meet some Icelandic horses and sheep. It was perfect and we loved it! After our tour, we were seated in a cozy room. We both had a curry soup that was TO DIE FOR! I literally would eat this soup every day if it was offered. So delicious. The garlic bread was very tasty. We also got the house specialty - the salted cod, which was very good, if a bit salty (hence "salted cod). We finished up our meal with an extra glass of wine - the perfect ending to a perfect day. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Returning customers again for Torlakur's special lamb and codfish and it didn't disappoint....we were a large group and had thick mushroom soup with lamb and codfish gratin with salad and potatoes then last friday it was my 40th and we had fish and chips and chicken casserole with rice followed by an amazing birthday cake and disco.....couldnt have wished to spend it in a better place. Torlakur you're the best and next year we will be back again! such hospitality.....5 star food and service!!!
