IMy daughter and I were basically kind of lost. We were wandering around trying to find another restaurant. Thankfully we saw lights and the sign for the Bruin. Since we are from Boston, we took this to be divine intervention~ how could New England people be lost when they see a sign that says Bruin (our fabulous hockey team). The owner welcomed us- even offered to take us to the other restaurant. We are so glad that we stayed. He is a delightful host and his place is so welcoming. He is a former fisherman who knows fish. We had absolutely delicious fresh fish and chips. As good as anything that we have ever had~ again being from the Northshore of Boston - we know good tasting fresh seafood. His wife makes the desserts and they also were a treat. Cold beer- yummy fresh seafood- delicious desserts- reasonable price. This place an A++++. It is located near the airport- and the Blue Lagoon. Do yourself a favor and make the effort to find this hidden gem!

We had an opportunity to dine here. It wasn't prime tourism: being January, but we found them welcoming and friendly. I opted to take the owners recommendation for a salt cod dish-and simply loved the Icelandic dish. The owner was great and quite a help. I would go back just to have a beer and talk. Bacalhau was probably the best I've had.

On a cold February day when not much else was open, we were very lucky to stumble across this little gem of a cafe. It's down what looks like a side street of units, overlooking the harbour. Cooked from fresh, the fish was perfect, moist and in a delicate batter. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to make it back to the area. If you're driving round the Reykjanes peninsula to have a look at the lighthouse, rocks and bridge across the continents, make sure you're in Grindavik for lunch or tea!

this was a drive-by "let's go there" that ended up being a great experience. check out the hand-knit sweaters, too.
my travel partner and I had just had an argument about driving and we basically stopped here to get out of the car and stop fighting. in retrospect, it was one of our favorite experiences of our trip.
I have never ordered fish stew before in my life and was scared of what I would get - but it was soooooo good; more of a meal in a bowl than a serving of soup. travel partner ordered deep fried fish and it was lightly battered, flavorful, and obviously fresh.
sweet proprietor and family staff.
we were only non-locals while we where there - everyone else was definitely local and repeat business. a group of fishermen came in to get lunch while we were there.
a relative of the owner knits Icelandic sweaters and they are lovely wool - I have worn the one I got for a great price every day since I bought it. did not smell like fish or food at all - many compliments.
this should get an off the beaten path award of some kind!

We walked into the village from the Northern Light Inn thinking we would find some village life, we didnt but we did find this place. We had coffee and a huge slice of cake it was lovely and really reasonable. We then went for a walk and whilst we were out the wind got really strong so we decided to head back here for some lunch. Struggling to walk a car pulled up and offered us a lift, it was the owners wife, a lovely surprise, we jumped in quick grateful to take shelter. We went back and had a lovely fish soup with a sweet bread, delicious. We stayed a while chatting to the owner. A great place make sure you find it!
