“Had a great stay, Staff great, great location”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

There were 7 in our group, We stayed 3 nights, Our rooms were ready when we arrived (mid afternoon) The rooms are cozy, beds are comfortable. Can't say enough about the manager of the hotel, he was exceptional. Thank you for everything Domanick.
The hotel is centrally located on the South shore near, Skogarfoss, Þjórsárdalur and Dyrholaey about 30min from Vik and ferry to Westman Islands.
Continental Breakfast was good, assorted sliced breads, cereals, juices, sliced ham, salami, and cheeses, AND BUTTER BUTTER BUTTER, I love the Iceland BUTTER. Hot drinks are available 24/7 from the coffee machine. The big room upstairs has a big screen TV and cable, nice couch, pool table, darts, and chess. There is a hot pool about 3/4mi up the road behind the hotel. Just drive up the road until you can't drive any more then follow the walking trail beside the river into the mountains, takes about 15 mins. There are changing rooms there but the floor is wet/muddy. If you go there ask Dominick for towels. Don't use the bath towels. There is a good restaurant up the road Rt.1, Gamla fjosid / Old Cowhouse, We had 2 very nice meals there, learned to drink Opel, All in all we had a great stay.

This building in the picture is the entire guesthouse! The room is clean, small. The bathroom is small! The place is in the middle of nowhere. But, it was a clean roof over our heads, an ample breakfast in the morning, and off we went.

we stayed in edinborg for two nights.
the hostel located in quiet surrounding area, 20 mins car ride from Vik, but very closed to waterfall and Eyjafjallajokull.
the host is a very kind man, he prepared everything for the guests, so the environment was clean and tidy with basic necessicities, he provided the towels again without question (we had lots of stuffs and stored it inside the drawer). We could enjoyed the simple breakfast upstairs
because of that's a wooden hut, so there's a bit problem, we could hear the foot steps upstairs or if a bad neighbor next to you
but we 'll come back again if paid visit to Iceland

Room Tip: away from stairs

We stayed in this guesthouse at the end of May. Our group was the only 5 guests in the place for that night. We were warmly greeted and our host showed us around and explained how to get to the hidden natural pool. (This is the best place to stay to visit the pool.) The guesthouse was very clean, with big windows letting in lots of light and great views. We stayed in two small rooms. Although the beds were quite close together, we were comfortable. The recreational room on the second floor was a good place to hang out while we waited for the rain to stop a little. The breakfast was basic but tasty. There was also coffee and tea available all the time.

The address does say Hvolsvollur, but it is near Skogar. Another poster was confused, but actually, it was exactly where we expected. Just don't get confused by the address. I guess Hvolsvollur is the province/area where it is located.

We enjoyed our time in this little hotel. It has only 6 cosy rooms, they are not big but they are ensuite and have great views to the landscape outside. It looks recently renovated, in a minimalistic style. It looks clean and modern. It is very handy only 5 minutes drive to Skogarfoss and Seijalandfoss, right in the middle of the way of those beautiful waterfalls. It has a shared area upstairs which is very comfortable. The young man running it, is friendly and eager to please.
Breakfast was very simple but the highlight was the coffee machine that you can use anytime and displays a great variety of coffees and even hot chocolate. The stairs to the common and breakfast area are a little steep but that is not a problem for us. Plenty of oportunity for trekking in the surroundings, this is just at the skirt of the volcano that erupted in 2012.
I think it was a good deal for the price.

Room Tip: Some rooms are slightly bigger than others but I think there is not a big difference.

This is a small hotel (roughly 6 double bed rooms), plenty of parking, relatively rustic and basic. The first issue you may have to deal with is finding the place. We had the address as Lambafell, Hvolsvollur, Iceland. So, we went to Hvolsvollur and asked around about where this might be. None of the local establishments knew about it. We were lucky to find an information center (which itself was not so easy to find) in Hvolsvollur and asked there. They knew were it was and directed us to travel 40 km further to the east. We did that and eventually found the place. Had we been looking after hours in the information center, we might have had a problem. A local phone call was provided so if need be we would have been able to call. So, if you decide to visit this little hotel, be sure to know where it is.

The accommodations are quite rustic. The doors are thin and sounds from other rooms travel freely. The rooms are clean and the basic facilities adequate. The beds are comfortable. One person seems to take full responsibility for the place, cleaning, dealing with linens, washing the sheets, etc. And, this same person takes care of providing a very basic breakfast. At the time of our visit the person in charge was from Russia, spoke adequate English and was very pleasant. A laptop (with printer) is available in the small entry room and this can be used by guests without charge.

This consisted of some cheese slices, some sliced meat (likely ham) some vegetables, cereals, some yogurt, two kinds of juice, and a coffee machine. If you want coffee with milk, select black coffee and use the milk that is provided for the cereal; otherwise, you will get some non-dairy from the machine if you ask for latte or coffee with ‘milk’. The coffee is reasonable and there is no limit.

It appears that this properly is in transition. There is a large wooden log-style house not far away and the plan is to make that also a guesthouse for next year. This would likely be more up-scale addition to the overall property and may have a higher price. We talked with one couple who stayed there (one room was available) and they described a much bigger room, but the plan is to make several smaller rooms from the larger ones. There are also two cabins on the property and these are also available. They too are rather rustic, but looked rather nice and are separated from the main guesthouse by about 50 meters. Those who stayed there were happy with what they found.

If you would be satisfied with a rather basic and Spartan place, you would likely be satisfied with this one. it is acceptably clean and that counts for a lot.

Room Tip: You might want to opt for one of the two cottages. They are very close and quite pleasant.

I've just tried contacting this hotel by phone and email but can't reach them. I phoned someone at the neighbouring Lambafell Bed & Breakfast who said they were closed since the volcano erupted (although the previous review is from January so I'm not sure).
