“Extremely cozy hotel in a fantastic nature”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

My fiancé and I had a very nice and romantic trip to the South last weekend and stayed at Hótel Skógar. We absolutely loved the hotel, its cozyness, atmosphere, location and service.
We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant (by the fireplace!) and it was really delicious and well served.

Very beautiful location by the waterfall Skógarfoss and great nature all around.

We would absolutely recommend Hótel Skógar, especially for a romantic trip for couples.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Skogar 1 night last week. The room was nice, bright and clean. Food was delicious, portions were ample and service was prompt and cheery. For dinner we had the house recommended 3-course meal which consisted of an appetizer sampler platter(reindeer, goose and I can´t remember what the third thing was), lamb fillet for the main course and a huge slice of chocolate cake with dabs of ice cream for dessert. The breakfast buffet did everything we needed and had a nice selection of bread, cereal, yoghurt, cold cuts and cheese + OJ, water, milk and coffee. Our room was on the north side which gave us a beautiful view of the Skogafoss waterfall out of the corner of the window (albeit at an awkward angle :-) . Wouldn´t hesitate to recommend this cozy little 12 room hotel in the countryside for a romantic getaway or an overnight stop passing through. We forgot to bring swimwear so we didn't get a chance to try the hot tub or sauna this time around - but they looked comfortable and clean enough and the bathrobes in the room were a nice touch. Leaves us something to look forward to doing on our next stay :-)

If you are travelling East on your Icelandic adventure, then this small hotel is a great 1/2 way stop. Right next to the Skogafoss waterfall, in a small settlement. The food was limited but good and breakfast was varied enough but there was nothing hot. Staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there was a problem with the hot tub being not hot enough so I didn't fancy running through the snow to it! Very nice place though.

Stayed here on the 2nd night of our self-drive trip. Being virtually under the Skogarfoss waterfall meant it was super easy to find, and the view in the morning was sensational. No tourist hoards to ruin the sense of isolation. We got the large apartment room, which had a private balcony overlooking the mountains. Ate at the restaurant, and the food was excellent. Very friendly manager/chef too, so all in all a lovely, albeit short, stay.

We stayed at Hotel Skogar for one night last week and really enjoyed our stay. We paid a small extra cost for a "luxury" room as I think we got extra room. Our room was north facing so would have been perfect if the Northern Lights showed up but unfortunately nothing Hotel Skogar could do about that. One criticism- the sauna needed time to warm up. However, the hot tub was fantastic and it was just the right temperature. The hotel provide special "Hotel Skogar" robes for guests to wear in the sauna/hot tub which is pretty cute too. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful (one staff member even picked some Pringles up for us from the local shop!!), the breakfast buffet was fantastic. We ate cod in the restaurant at night which was nice. I would recommend this hotel and hope to be back on a future trip. Thank you to all the staff!

Friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable room with good views, wonderful location near the waterfall just off the main road, a hot tub for viewing the Northern lights, gourmet evening meal and a delicious breakfast - what more could any visitor want? We would thoroughly recommend this small hotel.

A small and cozy Hotel in a beautiful location. The rooms are small but cozy, the food is great and the service exemplary.
Would choose it again. I was missing a small lounge for people to get a drink :)
