My husband and I had a wonderful stay here! It was absolutely adorable, the view was great, the room was cute, and everyone was friendly. The woman who greeted us was quick to let us know about the geothermal pool that was within walking distance - that was one of the highlights of our trip! We highly recommend this inn!

Very pretty pictures of this hotel , log cabin and mountain views but looks deceive . It's poor , no real reception , rooms basic , no tea or coffee available not making facilities . Food is a drive a way , the nearest wasn't available because of TV filming there , also the case at the local swimming pool. The room was hot and noisy from the adjacent rooms . Breakfast was basic and not well presented and the bumping and barging by fellow guests made it more like a rugby scrum than a relaxing start to the day. If you have to stay locally avoid here .

We booked the economy twin room via Booking.com so knew we were getting a small room. As outlined by a previous reviewer it did feel like half a room, due to the sloping ceiling which runs away from the door over the beds and towards the floor. My husband is also over 6' tall and he could comfortably sit on the bed without hitting his head, you just need to sit at the right end!

The bathroom was large in comparison to the bedroom and the shower was very good. The room was clean and the wifi and TV worked well. There wasn't any soap or toiletries provided which wasn't a problem for us as we had our own but you would normally expect a hotel to provide such things

We didn't use the hot tub so can't comment on that, there were several guests in it when we arrived though. The outside areas could do with a bit of attention, tidying up, weeding etc.

We picked this hotel for its location to nearby attractions and it worked for us. The area is remote but there are signs from the nearby Route 1 to the hotel.

Visit the Eyjafjallajokull Visitor Centre (2 mins up the road from the hotel on Rt 1) to see how close the floodwater was to the hotel during the 2010 eruption and how the river defence outside the hotel came about.

Breakfast was disappointing, it was adequate but definitely lacked the selection and freshness previously experienced in Iceland. The coffee machine stopped working part way through breakfast and no alternatives were offered or made available which was a shame.

The couple that are running the hotel are very pleasant but for the price, this hotel could and should deliver more. A few small changes would go a long way to improve the customer experience.

My husband and I had enjoyed the beautiful glaciers of Southern Iceland fir most of the day. We drove several hours to find this picturesque hotel that we had seen on the website. We arrived just prior to midnight, no signs on road so very difficult to find. We had to carry our luggage up very step stairs and were placed in a room that only my 5 year old would fit into. No double bed, only 2 singles, a window that food not open far enough to cool off the room, etc. Etc. Miserable night sleep. Breakfast was poor and should have been skipped. No toliet paper on the lobby bathroom. We could not leave fast enough.

The pictures of this hotel on the inside are accurate and show a beautiful lobby area with exposed beams - reminding me of a log cabin from the wild west of the US, but that is the best that this place had to offer. There were no signs for the hotel along the road and the phone number that we tried to call to get directions did not work. Needless to say we were frustrated when we arrived. We were then placed in what I would call a "half room" with only 1/2 of the space usable - my husband is over 6" tall and the slope of the roof made it impossible for him to sit on the bed without hitting his head on the exposed beams. We moved the beds around - oh did I say that we had requested a double bed so that we could sleep together and were given 2 twins - so that we could sit without knocking us out. The room was so warm that we tried to adjust the temperature with the window - no luck - melted all night. The shower, while pretty, required 3 advanced degrees to get it to produce hot water - no soap supplied, just a 3/4 empty bottle of shampoo. Breakfast was the worst that we had in Iceland - the hard salami tasted sour and there minimal to no choices in what was available. We left and found breakfast down the road. I would never stay here again - I would rather sleep in the car!

Comfortable hotel with free wifi. There are exposed wooden beams throughout the hotel which is nice. The breakfast was nothing special. There is an odd atmosphere there though which I couldn't quite work out. Although it was nice, I don't think I would recommend it. There are better options close by.

We visited this hotel for one night. The guy running the hotel seemed to be doing everything and was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable with modern decor. Beds were comfortable and bathroom adequate. The wifi worked well and the lounge was nice to sit in. There are no evening meals available so you have to visit either Anna's restaurant about 20km away or the bistro at skogar which is nearer- about 10km. We had lunch at Anna's and paid about £12 each for soup and bread , expensive but lovely. We ate in the evening at the bistro, which was ok. There is a good selection on the menu.
Breakfast at the hotel was probably the most basic we encountered in Iceland. Sliced bread, cereals, cut up apples and oranges, sliced cheese and ham but it served it's purpose. I think the hotel lacks any form of kitchen suitable for catering. We did not use the hot tub but you can visit the oldest swimming pool in Iceland up near the mountain. It is formed partly from mountain wall and the river flows into it and mixes with thermal water. A unique experience.
In view of the fact that choice of accommodation in the area is very limited this is a reasonable choice in a unique location.
