“A parador in Italy”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

Excellent hotel with charming interior decoration and furniture and lots of small sofa groups where you can sit in privacy. The hotel is a converted villa dating back to the 17th centure, situated in an old Milan industrial suburb. It borders on a large park and is quite close to a ring road, metro station and shopping centre.

Stayed here for one night close to the ever busy Monza. Looked as though it was going to be a gem - old and attractive from the outside but close to a very busy road so noisy. Room was pretty average - no air conditioning or fan and window only opened a fraction. Bed so close to door that might as well have been in hallway.Had dinner in hotel restaurant which was promising to start but my main course arrived as a starter so hubby and I eating at different times. Not that great for the price which wasn't insignificant. A pretty uncomfortable nigh followed in our very warm room - sorry won't be rushing back in a hurry although staff were reasonably pleasant.

One of the loveliest hotels I have stayed in - beautifully restored Villa, with wonderful frescoes in the public spaces and rooms with beamed ceilings set in lovely grounds right next to a huge park. It's a little way out of town, as I was there on a business trip and it was close to my office, but it was a 5 minute walk to the newly extended Metro and only a Euro 50 to get into the centre of town in 20 minutes, so no real hardship and I wouldn't let that put you off if you like to stay in places with charm and a bit of quirkiness. The staff were brilliant, very helpful and friendly and it is very reasonably priced.
I would definitely consider staying there on a personal trip if I am lucky enough to get back to Milan again!

On a business trip to Milan? Want to feel you've experienced something typically Italian? Gran Hotel Villa Torretta may be the place for you. Built in an oasis of calm in the Sesto San Giovanni suburb of Milan you could be staying in an old Tuscan Villa. The rooms - both bedroom and function rooms - are part of an old courtyard based building with the decor sympathetic to its heritage. There's a genteel Italian quaintness in terms of the bedrooms and bathrooms so if you're looking for wetrooms, power showers and floor to ceiling porcelane or marble tiles with sumptuous modern bathroom furniture think again. However, if you want to be part of something quintessentially Italian - try this hotel. A note of caution, it's a way from the city centre of Milan so be prepared to commute if you want to visit the centre
