Our family of two adults and three children stayed four nights in the bottom apartment - 2 BR, 1.5 BA, living/dining and kitchen. The space was perfect for our family to spread out and have morning breakfasts in the kitchen with all of the utensils we needed (fridge, oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, eating/cooking utensils). Window AC units were available, but we did not use/need them because the weather was mild. Free wireless internet and flat screen TV were great! The location was perfect ... about 2 blocks from Porter Square subway and lots of markets and restaurants within easy walking distance. The owner, Karin, was very welcoming (called and emailed several times the day before to ensure the room was ready, etc.) and provided a free parking space for our rental car. The laundry facility onsite was also very helpful for us. As others mentioned, this really is more of a short-term rental rather than a "bed and breakfast" since there is no breakfast on the facility (other than what you buy and prepare yourself).

Only a few suggestions:
- the bedroom was a little dusty on the nightstands, under the bed and on the headboard
- additional pillows (only 1 per person) would be nice but I'm sure if we would have asked we could have received some
- TV in the bedroom would be nice, but not essential
- darker window shades or drapes would be nice, but not essential (we are from the south, so the bright sunshine at 5 a.m. was a bit early for us!)
- some small amentities would be helpful such as sample sizes of laundry detergent (or a detergent machine in the laundry room so guests don't have to buy a whole box at the store for 2-3 loads), complimentary coffee/sweetener/creamer, complimentary travel size shampoo/conditioner/lotion. Again ... not essential, but just things that would have made the stay even easier.

Overall, we would definitely return and recommend the Frost House to others. It was a great value and location.

1st time staying near porter square. Frost house was wonderful. Spacious, with plenty of room to just be. Small kitchen, but with everything we needed. Close to the T, Shaw's market, a very fine wine and beer store, as well as many ther percs. Everything worked as expected. Only thing we wished had been different: tv was in bedroom. Better if it had been in living room. We will happily return to this b and b.

We rented the room and bathroom unit, since we didn't need a kitchen, and it was very pleasant for our two nights. Lots of natural light, and it had a good window air conditioner. The mattress was very, very comfortable, even for us two old folks with bad backs! It's on a quiet, tree-lined street, yet very close to the Porter Square metro stop. We would have appreciated a coffee-maker in the room, but there was a great cafe less than a block away, so it didn't really matter. But in bad weather, I'd hate to have to walk outside to get my morning coffee! Just be warned that the metal steps up to the unit are extremely steep, which you can't really tell from the picture. Also, you can some noise from the yoga studio upstairs, but it did not bother us at all.

The four of us - parents and 2 boys - stayed 2 weeks in flat 7A. Karen and Tenji, who run the flat, were very friendly and always ready to help. The flat was spacious and full of light, cosy and clean. The kitchen was basic with an offer from Karen to have more kitchen stuff if needed. Access to laundry room in basement was a definite plus. The location was amazing: a couple of minutes from Porter Square subway/bus stops and Porter Square commercial center, making it easy to move around and shop. Lots of good restaurants too! At the same time Frost house was away from the main roads and was really quiet, but for some regular background noise from other Frost house users - especially from the yoga studio above the flat - during daytime and early evening. Fortunately nights were quiet and we slept well. We would stay there again.

I wanted to love this place. Karin and her associates were very friendly and helpful and the location is perfect for Cambridge and Harvard. Self-catering is always a plus, too. We stayed in apartment 7A for three nights and didn't sleep well the entire stay. There was noise from the yoga studio above from early in the morning until the evening (I think there is another apartment up there too) and the students who live in the adjacent apartments come back at all hours, slamming doors and shouting. Whoever lives below 7A spent hours playing guitar along to The Smiths, very loudly. You can hear voices and TVs and footsteps as clearly as if they were in the room with you. The wooden floors are lovely but there is just no soundproofing at all - when one person in the building uses the bathroom in the night, everyone hears it!
Such a shame, this place would be fabulous if it weren't for this issue, but sadly it is a big deal when you are visiting Harvard for interviews and work. Sleep is important.

Room Tip: Try the top floor apartment.

We are so sorry this guest did not sleep well. We do not typically get complaints about noise from the yoga studio or from surrounding apartments. The yoga studio classes are fairly small, students do not wear shoes, and there are no classes in the early morning (before 8:30) or late evening. Our neighbors are usually very courteous but we will certainly look into this issue. Our top priority is always to ensure our guests have a comfortable, enjoyable visit!

We loved our 4 days stay. We agree with all the positive comments. Tanji the caretaker was always gracious and ready to help. We stayed in the 2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 bath ground floor apartment. It was quiet and comfortable and quite near all services. The only reservation is that there are not enough kitchen utensils. We cannot really cook except for the very basic. We would stay there again anytime.
