Been to many Paneras which are all consistently good, but wanted to recognize outstanding service by a woman (wish I took note of her name) who was flexible to make a custom breakfast sandwich yesterday. Thanks!

I was a little skeptical when Panera moved into Porter Square, but then again they were replacing a McDonalds that was always the worst, dirtiest, grungiest place with the worst service, so it had to be better than that. Panera far exceeded expectations, building a lovely place to have a sandwich or grab a cup of tea. The downstairs seating is often populated by people with laptops doing work and enjoying the free Wifi. Prices seem decent for the quality of the food and I've become a repeat customer. My only complaint is that sometimes the air conditioning is up so high that it's like an icebox in there, and sometimes the music is too loud.

I really have to be careful when I visit Panera because I inevitably order some sinfully good baked treat which is strictly off my diet. The food is generally very good. I always enjoy visiting Panera.

A few steps from the Porter Square subway station lies an excellent place to grab a beverage (free refills) and do whatever. They have a full basement, outdoor seating, and ground level seating. Free wifi. Clean bathrooms. Delicious pastries, sandwiches, and large salads. And you can literally study there all day, play board games, or do whatever. (I even took a 5 hour long timed practice test, the mcat, there without trouble.) They have great air conditioning so bring an extra shirt or jacket just to be safe. Lots of professionals, professors, and reasonably mature college students. The Korean meetup group, tutors, and a knitting club occasionally meet at Panera.

About the neighborhood, Panera is right next to a Dunkin Donuts and you can bring coffee from Dunkin Donuts as long as you also purchase something at Panera as well. There's a 24 hour Shaws, a 24 hour CVS, and some gyms right there as well.

They offer free refills on soda and iced tea. They have a wonderful basement with air conditioning great for studying and informal meetings. Free Wifi. Steps away from the Porter Square train stop.

The pastries are delicious. The pastries are made fresh every day because Panera donates leftovers to homeless shelters after they close in the evenings.

The employees and atmosphere are pleasant. This is an appropriate place for students, families, children, business, etc. There are restrooms in the basement.
