I was in Cambridge for the weekend of the Boston Marathon, this might have been an unlucky time to compare quality and value. Kendall Hotell is a convenient location for MIT, located on Main Street, a few steps from many important MIT venues and with easy access into central Boston by public transport. When booking such an expensive room my expectations of style and charm were high I opened the door to a room dominated by a massive four-poster bed decorated in American flag colors , American flag pillows, an American colors quilt, all on brown carpeting. I got used to it, and started to enjoy the fast wi-fi, the work desk an the space of the room itself. Breakfast was just adequate, not much variation. No rye bread or other darker bread, only one cheese, few vegetables and fruits. Some days there were melon. As there is not enough space for everyone to sit down and eat comfortably in the few tables, many guests have to eat in the lobby with their plates on their laps.
There is no room service, but you can buy meals and drinks from the hotel restaurant which functioned very well for me when I was late back from work. I disliked the vending machine for soft drinks that required exact amounts of coins. A hotel should have more convenient ways of serving a soft drink or a mineral water to its guests.More
