Thank you for sharing your experience at The Kendall Hotel. Everyone deserves a weekend with friends and I am thrilled you enjoyed yours at The Kendall – nice to read your comments.
I would very much enjoying hearing what activities you did for your special weekend – we want to create a Girls Weekend Package and before I do, would be interested in what you think would make that sort of package special. My email is brenda@kendallhotel.com.

Cheers,
Brenda

Charming and convenient for a city setting. Be sure to take time for the complimentary breakfast it's excellent. Within walking distant to the "T" (subway) making the hotel's location accessible to campuses, museums and the other attractions in the Boston and surrounding areas.

Thank you for sharing your comments about The Kendall Hotel and our great location - many folks don't realize how convenient it is to stay in Cambridge; we are so close to the "T" and walking distance to Boston and Harvard Square.

I enjoyed reading your description of us as “quirky in a good way”. I often describe the hotel as touching on the senses - our architectural style, the historic aspect, our vibrant colours & our funky music really create a warm and inviting ambience. Thanks for noticing that we are not like all the other hotels.

We do hope to see you again in the not too distant future.

My best,
Brenda

Former Old Fire House. Fun historic decor. If you are disturbed by early morning sunlight, make sure you ask for a room that does not face east. Even the sun-blocking curtains do not stop the bright morning dawn. Left exhausted.

Room Tip: Ask for room that does not face east, if you are easily awakened by morning light.

I'm pleased you liked our historic decor. It took a lot of effort to get our aesthetic just right. The sun, and how it shines in certain rooms, is tricky to account for, as the brightness varies seasonally and peoples' sensitivity is relative. Rooms most susceptible to sunlight have been outfitted with high-quality sun-blocking curtains. I'm sorry that they did not provide the comfort you desired. I hope that you will stay with us again. We have 77 rooms and each one is different, so I'm sure we can find one that will make you comfortable.

My best,
Brenda

The hotel is small but the room was large. Early american is everywhere. Even the pillows on the bed were red, white and blue. Check-in and checkout are done at the front desk. It is right next to MIT's campus which is why we stayed there.

Includes a full breakfast with bacon, eggs, juice and assorted pastries. It was fresh and better than the usual hotel breakfast.

Our room seamed either too hot or too cold. The front desk explained that there was system was heat or air conditioning but not both at the same time. So when the temperature is in the 60's and depending on the way your room faces the comfort level will be hit or miss. The room did have a ceiling fan.

Thank you for your kind words. We continually strive to ensure our breakfast is the best - everything is house-made and we only use fresh ingredients. And I am happy to report that the HVAC issue with your room has been addressed.

Hope to have y'all stay with us again soon!

Brenda

Just returned from our third and likely our last stay at the Kendall. My son has just completed his MIT degree. Each time I traveled to Cambridge over the past 4 years I stayed at this unique hotel. It is not fancy, indeed it is more like staying in a large home. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The included breakfast each morning is worth looking forward to. The location is about 100 yards from the Kendall/MIT subway station. Boston is just a 1 mile walk across the bridge. During baseball season you can hear the crowd cheer from Fenway Park. I highly recommend this special place for personal or business travel to the Cambridge/Boston area.

We are thrilled that you keep coming back! It is always nice to hear when the uniqueness of our hotel is appreciated. The owners put a lot of time and effort into giving the hotel its character, and differentiating each and every room. Hope to see you a 4th time.
Cheers,
Brenda and The Kendall Family

This is a wonderful boutique hotel very near the MIT campus. I specifically requested a quiet room and this is what we received. The room was quiet, the bed was comfortable, they provided wonderfully sized bars of soap and Gilchrist & Soames body lotion, shampoo and conditioner. The complementary breakfast buffet had many great choices. We would definitely stay here again.

The Kendall aims to be a peaceful and quiet oasis in the midst of all the bustle and commerce of MIT and the surrounding Boston area. Glad we were able to give you everything that you expected and more.

We do hope to see you again in the not too distant future.

Many thanks,

Brenda

Even if you are spending time elsewhere, such as at a local college's reunion, this location can't be beat; it is right by the Kendall Square "T" stop. The hotel itself is cosy and comfortable, though I found the flag-themed decor in the rooms a bit cloying, and I was unable to sleep the first night because of the strongly-scented detergent that had been used on the sheets. The next day, they were changed and all was well, though I noticed the same overwhelming scent on the napkins at breakfast. (I'm not usually at all sensitive to perfumes -- this was unavoidable.) The breakfast was quite nice -- either pancakes or french toast, scrambled or hard-boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, pastries, and fruit -- though no points are given for rock-hard peaches, folks. The room was about 85% clean; there were a couple of hairs in the bathroom when I arrived. And, really, can we stem the tide of hotels not providing freshly washed glasses every day? Having the housekeepers wash them by hand is NOT satisfactory. And, yes, we can tell.

Thank you for your feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve. And yes, the location is incredible. The owners of The Kendall were thrilled when their proposal to the City of Cambridge to save the Engine 7 Firehouse was awarded to them - being able to attain a historic property right by the T, minutes from downtown Boston, and situated next to MIT campus, they knew they had to do something very special. They did not want a "cookie-cutter" hotel but envisioned and created a hotel very indicative of Boston.

Cheers!
