“Great Place to stay, Great Location, Great Staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 July 2014

This hotel is located a short distance from the Alewife T station. While we were mainly focused on a softball tournament, we did take an evening to go into Boston. Very easy. Hotel staff was friendly, and assisted us whenever we asked.

The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The breakfast was the best a hotel has ever provided to us. It included home fries, eggs, bacon, waffles and plenty more. They have legit chefs prepping that breakfast. The rooms are fine and location ok. Although I heard the shuttle to the T was questionable, it was on time and simple as can be.

Room Tip: We saved a ton on priceline express.

The Best Western Tria is an adequate place to stay in its price range--nice desk staff and a clean, comfortable room and bath with sufficient lighting and towels, two areas where hotels of this type often skimp. We didn't have a car and had to rely on the shuttle to the T stop (it's walkable, but it was too hot during the day and just a bit too creepy at night). The shuttle was late both times; fortunately we weren't on a tight schedule. I would never stay there again without a car because the location is too inconvenient and the shuttle is unreliable and stops too early in the evening.

The real weakness of the Tria is the breakfast buffet, which is included in the price. Beyond the usual juice and coffee, there was only scrambled eggs and limp, gray sausage patties and the typical waffle machine, plus some sad looking bread , muffins and bagels and a bowl of cut up melon. The food was just of poor quality, plus no one was properly minding the buffet. When the waffle batter and sausages ran out, everyone had to just wait around until someone finally sauntered out and noticed. We and many others decamped to the attached Starbucks.

We stayed at the Tria because we needed a last minute reservation on 4th of July weekend at a reasonable price, and Priceline gave us a rate of $120 per night. I think it's a good place to stay if you have business in the area or are visiting Tufts, but otherwise it's not a place to seek out.

My two sisters, brother and I went to visit family out East and wanted to see Boston. We stayed at the Best Western Plus Hotel Tria in Cambridge, MA., before we proceeded on to Connecticut. We were very impressed and thoroughly satisfied with our stay at Hotel Tria. It was such a pleasant experience. The hotel staff were so helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and the beds were so comfortable for a good night's rest. The hot breakfast was great! We would definitely stay there again. Thanks for the wonderful accommodations!

This is a great place to stay when visiting Boston. They provide shuttle service to many locations. Mass transit is the easiest way to get around. Very easy to use. Shuttle to restaurants is helpful. only close by restaurants are Panera Bread and McDonalds. Of course there are Trader Joes and Whole Foods for take out.

As others mentioned, the front desk staff left a lot to be desired. The desk clerk kept singing along with the piped in music, saying how much she loved the song. In the meantime, she assigned us to a room, and when she commented on the "nice dog" that my wfie was minding in the lobby, I told her that she was our baby. The clerk said "Oh, is she staying with you?" When I told her that we had requested a pet-friendly room, she seemed surprised, checked the reservation, took the room keys back and began to find us another room. Then it was "so you want two double beds". I had requested a king when I made the reservation, which was online on the Best Western site, so there was no third party booking error here. The room itself was okay, standard Best Western stuff, but there was enough door slamming making its way through our door to be annoying. The parking lot was rather dark at night, and though there are stores a short walk away, it wasn't an altogether comfortable experience. Breakfast was okay, with a variety of offerings, and because of that, I'd consider the hotel if I was traveling with a family and had a few mouths to feed. We decided to try his hotel because it was pet-friendly and a few dollars cheaper than the Marlowe, our regular go-to, but we'd rather spend the extra money for a hotel experience that's far superior..

The stay here was fine. Like many others have mentioned, it has great amenities within walking distance and lots of available parking. The front desk staff was hit and miss - generally better service in the evening with the ladies than during the day minus one nice gentleman (don't know his name, but his nametag was on crookedly which we teased him about). We got some hugely inaccurate information on driving times to places which made me think they don't really know the area. Getting service at the bar was difficult the one time we tried as the 1 staff person was also cooking in the kitchen. The free breakfast was appreciated but yes it too got boring by the fourth day no matter how much variety an individual tried to incorporate into their own choices.

The room was fine - we too got 'screwed' in bed choice as I booked the king bed (all that was available) but called the day before to request 2 doubles. Upon check in, I was told it was not available at all during our 4 night stay. The bed was way too hard; on our final night I opted for the cot and slept the best of all the nights, ironically.

The drivers and roads in Cambridge are way too crazy and poorly designed, painted (with lines) and maintained, that the choice of hotel location definitely hampered the trip, unfortunately.
