“Convenient and Comfortable”
Reviewed 2 December 2013

This hotel is perfectly situated across the Charles River from downtown Boston, allowing you to enjoy nearby Boston sites such as Beacon Hill, Boston Common, and Fanueil Hall, as well as the adjacent MIT and nearby Harvard in Cambridge. Even better the Kendall Square subway stop is right out the front door. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, with the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The hotel has a large fitness center with multiple cardio machines and free weights. Breakfast buffet was very generous and food tasty, but was expensive if purchased separately, so purchase it as part of room package if possible.

Room Tip: Choose room facing out front of hotel with views of downtown Boston.

During a short business trip to Boston on short notice I stayed at this location. Not very far from the airport. Valet was quick and easy as well as getting around on foot. My king room was as expected. Late night during my neighbor had a cry baby that escalated to screaming. I called the front desk, security came up and knocked on the door several times and received no answer.

The front counter person immediately moved me t an huge suite for the rest of my stay where I was able to get a couple of good nights sleep. I'm not sure what became of the crying baby.

Room Tip: Get a suite on a high floor

Marriott (nearly always) works fine for me. This one is well located (next to T and MIT), spacious clean room. The full rating is given because the complimentary continental breakfast was a full buffet with eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, nice orange juice and coffee. I used to stay at the Kendall but they only had a ridiculous rate this time to I switched to the Marriott - this is an alternative now!

The staff was very accommodating and the view from my 20th floor room looking over the Charles river and Boston was amazing. It is about 75 yards from the back door to the Red line subway. MIT is a two minute walk. The pool and gym were nice and well maintained. Our use of the Executive Lounge was an added bonus.
While the price of the valet was a little pricey, there is no street parking nearby. There is a paid lot that is next door, but it is only $5 less a day, so, I chose to stay with the valet.

Room Tip: Try and get a high floor facing the river.

This was a one night stay with early evening arrival and early morning departure. It was a pleasure to have a quick and efficient check-in and a room that was quiet, clean and well-appointed. The hotel's basic architecture allows rooms to be slightly off set giving an ambiance of privacy and, I believe, some acoustic benefits compared to the traditional straight hallway. In addition I had a room that shared a wall with a vending area and heard no vending machine compressors, clattering ice cubes or the other usual disturbances associated with such locations. The room size was adequate but not generous. Room ambiance was helped by a door separating the sink area from the shower and toilet space. Ventilation and cleanliness were good with quiet and effective HVAC though the fan in the shower area, which had no apparent on-off control compensated for its effectiveness with a somewhat loud hum. Toiletries were of good quality. The only limitation I noted was the only restaurant (other than an appreciated coffee bar and lobby bar) is a limited menu sports bar. Overall a very good property in the M.I.T neighborhood.

We stayed in this hotel because we wanted to stay close to downtown boston while apartment shopping without breaking the bank. It was clean and everyone was friendly. There was also a wedding when we stayed so we were placed on the 2nd to last floor on a corner room with views of the city. The iron was kind of gross, but what hotel iron isn't? The parking is readily available for $30 per day, which is better than other parking garages in the city. They don't serve free breakfast but they set up a nice breakfast buffet, ~$20pp, for those chilly morning when no one wants to walk to find breakfast.

Room Tip: Book in advance to get better prices.

8 nights in the same hotel could be a nightmare - from the 19th floor of this hotel it was just lovely.
The view over the river was superb and serene.
It was the lovely young woman on reception, Erin, who upgraded me to the 19th floor and hence this fantastic review. Thanks so much. My conference was terrific - bit confronting - sex therapists everywhere!

Room Tip: get up high to look at the river or it would be depressing
