“Attractive and accommodating!”
Reviewed 24 August 2010

This hotel asks when you reserve if you have any special requests, and then it grants them! You don't have to ask again.
After walking to Harvard Sq. and back, I wanted to check in and get cleaned up. It was only 3:15 and check-in isn't till 4 :00. The front desk called housekeeping and they said 45 minutes, but while I was waiting the clerk--without my asking-- found me another room that was ready.
The rooms are sunny and cheerful and the beds are much better than most hotels, better than home! I was very happy I stayed there.

Hotel is in an excellent location and within walking distance from the Kendall Station. It is two stops from Harvard Square and two stops from downtown Boston. You can catch a sightseeing Trolley across the street and there is a food court nearby. The hotel is welcoming and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a studio suite which was nicely decorated and quite large. It included a queen bed and sofa bed which was comfortable for sleeping. We were particularly impressed with the cleanliness of the room. A great hot and cold breakfast was also included. We would definitely return to this hotel and highly recommend it.

On the whole, we enjoyed our stay of seven nights here. We paid $18/day for parking (in and out privileges included), but we only needed the car once, and that was to go to Wrentham Outlet Mall 45 minutes away.

Location:
The hotel is only a three to five minute walk from Kendall Station, so we were able to take the subway everyday easily to all the tourist spots (New England Aquarium, Museum of Science, Faneuil Hall, Public Garden). We had an umbrella stroller and two young kids with us--make sure you don't have a heavy stroller as not every station has an elevator.

Room:
We went during high season, so we were only willing to pay for a studio suite. The room was clean and actually quite spacious for the four of us, although when we pulled out the sofa bed, the room became smaller, but still maneuverable. The bathroom was clean enough, but there was no laundry line nor were there racks to hang/store towels. Every time we needed something, an attendant would bring it to us literally minutes after we called the front desk. The kitchenette had two stove tops (slow to cook) and no oven. But it also had a microwave, dishwasher, and full sized fridge. Detergents, utensils, plates, etc. were all included. The HD TV was nice, but not very many channels were available. There was also free Wi-Fi which was useful.

Amenities:
There are free safety deposit boxes at the front desk which could be used (you'll get the only key to your box). Breakfast was provided every morning which was such a perk (hot area of potatoes, sausages, eggs; cereals; breads and pastries; yogourt and fruit; tea and coffee). Of course, the same stuff was served everyday, but it was provided. There is also a free light dinner on Tuesday, Wed., and Thurs. The first night included lasagne, salad, and pop--filling enough. But on Wed. and Thurs. there were cheese and crackers; and burgers/chips respectively. There was a shallow pool that the kids enjoyed (4 feet deep), but the hot tub was out of order four of the seven nights we were there. There's also a laundromat on site--bring quarters.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay here, and would return in the future.

This might be a good place for a corporate stay. Our family was less than thrilled and left a day early.

The pool was done throughout our stay. We were told that they were "testing the water" because someone dropped "a candy bar" in the water. Yea, right. Yuck. Anyway, getting information from the English-challenged staff was not easy.

The overally quality was below average for the Residence Inn chain. I would stay here if I had business in the immediate area, but there are better choices in Cambridge/Boston for families.

I traveled to Boston for a visit to MIT, and stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. The location is wonderful, an easy walk to all locations on the campus, and very easy to get to from the airport. Rooms are large and spacious - I stayed in a suite with a living room area and a bedroom, each room had its own tv! The kitchen was fully equipped with small appliances, plates, cutlery, glassware. I would definitely recommend staying here, particularly as a cheaper alternative to the main Marriott hotel which is only a couple hundred meters up the road.

Spent five nights on buss./pleasure. One bedroom unit for two adults and two kids. Kids slept on sofa bed, which wasn't bad. Kids said it was ok. Very good breakfast and three nights during the week they have some type of dinner. Staff at dining area and front desk was excellent all the time! While doing reserach for the trip for the second week in June, price was less here than in downtown Boston. My parking was 18.00 per day through the front desk. Only found take out pizza joint within walking distance, otherwise had to take train for meals when not eating at hotel. I did have a difficult time getting around Cambridge and Boston with a car, so my opinion is to stick with rail or taxi if within decent distance. However, we definately used the car to get to Quincy, Concord, Lexington, Salem and Plymouth. All the previous within 30 to 60 minutes away from this hotel. I paid 170 a night, with taxes = 195.00. Downtown Marriott's were 239 plus tax and 42.00 to park for the time I was looking at.

You get an apartment at a great price. It has a REAL refrigerator, and the fold-out couch is actually really comfortable. The living room is big enough to throw a small party/meet and greet, and although we made noise, the walls are evidently thick, because we didn't bother anyone.
A Star supermarket and liquor stores are about a 15 minute walk away, so if you need a home away from home, this works really well.
There are 2 free computers downstairs too.
