The hotel was about a 10 minute walk from restaurants and about a half hour walk from the port. The rooms were clean and quite large and the breakfast was nice though no vegetables were served. However, none of the staff spoke English which made communicating very difficult. The mattress in our room was terrible but our friends in another room were happy with theirs. The bath towels were of pique cloth which were not comfortable nor absorbant at all and the face towels were more like dish towels.
All in all would not recommend to friends.

Room Tip: Don't take room number 9

We were visiting family in Trani in August 2013. We stayed at this hotel which was nice enough, but we a disappointed with the management. The cancellation policy was not made clear to us at the time of booking and only a 50% refund was offered for the extra room that our travel agent booked in error. When we arrived at the hotel the rooms that we reserved with 2 double beds each did not exist! We had booked what we thought were 3 rooms with 2 double beds each, but what we ended up with was 1 double bed and 1 single bed. We had reserved an extra single room that we did not need and the owner had agreed to refund 50% of the cost of that room, but then rescinded his offer. I sent him many emails explaining the situation, but he only responded that he would refund the money for the room we never used! I would not recommend staying at this hotel due to the poor customer service.

We almost put a pin in a map and arrived in Trani on the train from Naples. This hotel is on the outskirts of the small, ancient and impressive city of Trani. Quite close to a sandy beach for safe but crowded bathing with some local restaurants, ice cream cafes and bars if you get too hot or hungry. A bit difficult to find, off a side road, off a side road. There is what looks like a local fish processing operation by the sea near the end of the road, but this didn't spoil our time there in any way. There is a spacious ground floor reception area with commmuninal sofas and television and a small bar. There is a large dining room in which a good, varied continental breakfast buffet was served. I thought the coffee, served separately by a charming waiter, was particularly good. The hotel is old fashoned in decor - darkwood corridor furniture, decorous, patterned floor tiles and battened windows; but it is very well maintained and large wide corridors, though dark, do give a sense of space and coolness in the hot summer afternoons. The room was a reasonable size, simply furnished with the same darkwood furniture, with a small but useful balcony which had interrupted views of the light blue Adriatic. Effective AC and wifi. The bathroom room was tiny with a shower cubicle to match, but it was clean and well maintained. The whole hotel was quiet and comfortable but strangely other worldly.
The evening walk into town and back again is lovely first time along the promenade with a light sprinkling of seafront bars if the fancy takes you; just nice second time as you begin to notice the unkempt paving and kerb stones and the general lack of maintenance of the area; and frankly a bit tedious the third time as the blinking lights of Trani harbour with its rich array restaurants seem ever so far away.
The reception staff felt a bit aloof to us. It made a nice change that they didn't speak English - no complaints there - they thought we were German; but nevertheless we felt they could have put a bit more effort into making us feel like their guests. Having said that they were very happy to keep our luggage for nearly 8 hours after we checked out. It also turned out to be more expensive than we had thought due to some "misunderstandings" about our booking.
A pleasant stay at a reasonable hotel in a part of Italy not frequented by many English-speaking tourists.

Room Tip: North facing rooms get good shade most of the time and a view of the sea though interrupted by a lar...

We selected this hotel because it seemed to be within walking distance of the port, castle
and cathedral yet accessible by car without driving into the center. All true. The port is a
pleasant two kilometer or so walk along the ocean; the hotel is easily reachable by car
from the Trani Sud exit, and well signposted. If you use Google streetview, know that the
building that comes up with the hotel sign on the corner is not the hotel, it marks where to
turn off the Lungomare; after this turn, take the first right and the hotel is at the end.
There is parking (overseen by video cameras) on three sides of the hotel. .

Our room was simple but comfortable with tile floors, matching furniture and freshly painted walls. Everything was clean. We had a small balcony with a view of the
ocean between the buildings along the Lungomare. Breakfast was better than some more
expensive hotels.. There are a number of restaurants nearby. Not sure why it is only three
stars (although the hallways could use redecorating.) If you have a car and don’t mind
some walking, this is a good choice for a visiting Trani..

The rooms are spacious and very clean, with balconies although no amazing views. The breakfast includes some non-sweet options like prosciutto, which can be rare. But it ends at 9:30, which is way too early for a tourist hotel.

Location is right next to the Monastery and the beach, but is quite a walk to city center. The walk is nice, along the water, but still.

The staff was courteous but could have been warmer.

Hotel Riviera offers everything I need for a relaxed holiday. Very good value and very good sized rooms and extraordinary good breakfast in Italy. The bathroom was also very comfortable, just the shower cabin was much too small.

The hotel is about 1 mile from the town. Good value and good sized rooms. I was travelling by bike and I was able to store it overnight in a locked garage. The decor in the halls looked to be of a style from many years ago, but didn't show signs of wear to support that.
