“lovely hotel, good location, poor customer service...”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

we arrived in our fiat and accidentally entered a no entry area of the hotel at which point a man walked out and came across very unfriendly, almost looking down on us that we don't know what we are doing, he was the hotel receptionist, he didn't offer to help with our luggage either and asked us to go to the parking area. Not a great start.
The hotel is very nicely decorated and very clean as well however, there are a few "telling off" notices up everywhere in the hotel. The following day there was a wedding at the hotel which meant we couldn't use many facilities including the swimming pool which was very upsetting, as the weather was perfect to relax by the pool, at night there was a lot of noise from the wedding which is understandable, however, staff were moving heavy furniture above our room at 00.30 hours which made a lot of noise, I rang reception to inform them i couldn't sleep, she went to speak to her manager to see what she could do for us, I thought she may move us to a higher floor or something , but she never came back to the phone or called us back, basically she hung up on us. The next day as we were checking out, we were asked about our stay, so I told them of the above, and that we were not made aware of the wedding when we made our reservation, she just said sorry and thats it. Wouldn't return back again to this hotel.

A heartfelt thank you. To the entire team of the Hotel Arbatax
We had a wonderful week.
The rooms, the cleanliness, the friendliness, the helpfulness, the complete operation, the front desk including check-in and check-out. The complete service is impeccable and flawless. The entire team is striving every day to give the guest the best.
If you are looking for a couple of days rest, then the Hotel Arbatax is absolutely ideal. Also for motorcyclists like to selected target.
Whether you just want to relax, you want to spend the day, sit by the pool, want to go to the nearby town "Tortoli," one of the beaches would like to visit, or just go with the motor bike, the hotel is ideally and perfectly located!
Sensational is the view from the 3rd floor where you can enjoy breakfast. A great view in a very nice atmosphere.
A very special thank you to the kind service of "Serena." Anything it was missing at breakfast, she has always looked to it that everything was perfect!
The dinner and bar are located in the entrance area. The dinner and the service can also be as nothing to be desired!
We can absolutely recommend this hotel.
We will definitely be back next year.
Enjoy and relax at the hotel means it Arbatasar

Rooms are clean and comfortable and breakfast is reasonable, although we have had much better. This Hotel's Management is profit motivated not customer service oriented! When we arrived room temperature was 31c, air conditioning off!. On checking with reception we were told it had been switched off and could not be switched on again. The Manager claimed he was unable to speak English but through interpreter (Reception girl) stated that it was against the law to switch it on again. We were told to open the French windows for fresh air, but my partner is susceptible to insect bites. We were assured that there were none there but within a few minutes had been bitten. There were no fans. He also stood watch over the coffee machine at every Breakfast and communicated then. Was he afraid to have the machine broken?
We stayed at 5 other Sardinian hotels and all had their air conditioning running! Therefore the only explanation could be profit!

Room Tip: Do not stay here when it is hot!

Reviewed 30 October 2013

My wife and I stayed at the Arbatasar for 2 nights in late October 2013, during an unseasonably warm week, along with 46 friends on a group booking. The hotel had switched off the air conditioning a few days earlier and were either unwilling or unable to put it on again. In consequence rooms were stiflingly hot, and humid, and many were unable to sleep well.
At the reception desk, guests were advised to sleep with the full-height windows open. This was not an option in our room on the first floor as there was an almost flat roof right up to our balcony; my wife was adamant that she couldn't possibly sleep in a room so open to intrusion.
I see elsewhere on TripAdvisor that the management have stated that guests were told why the AC couldn't be turned back on. The only explanation that we or any of our friends whom we asked were given was that it was management policy to discontinue use of the AC after a given date in October. In view of the unusual weather, and the number of guests who were complaining that seems an inadequate reason. If there was a technical problem, that wasn't explained to us and in any case that could surely have been rectified before our second night's stay.
Other physical aspects of the hotel were very pleasant but there were a number of minor indications which showed that the management, and therefore their staff, had lost the desire to please their guests which is so refreshing in an establishment which is still trying. We concluded that the Arbatasar hotel now feels that it has "arrived", and no longer has to prove itself. It is interesting to read the response of the management to recent negative reviews; they seem quite unwilling to learn from their mistakes.
On a lighter note, but in keeping with the above conclusions, we did spot one unique notice by the fridge:
"IMPORTANT ADVICE. We would like to inform our kind guests that the minibar is for the exclusive use of the Hotel's products and is not allowed to use with other personal item. Unauthorised use by Management or Reception will be charged for each item of €3.00 per day. The Management"
That was a new one for us, and we do stay in hotels all over the world. Of course, the faulty grammar indicates that it is only when the management or reception use your minibar that a charge will occur but the intention is clear, and is quite ridiculous!
With a better attitude, this could be a cracking hotel, but until that is in evidence our advice would be to look elsewhere.

Their advice was "Open the window". Don't come here & expect to be able to sleep. 49 unhappy travellers. Staff friendly. Insufficient food laid out for breakfast. Near port and convenient for narrow gauge railway station.

Dear Sir or Madam
We would like to reply to your review with a few words.
Both we and your group guide we have tried to explain the reasons why it was not possible to reverse the setting of the machines for the AC, but you did not understand or maybe you would not understand......

About the other observations please be honest and do not lie.

With our Kind Regards,
The Menagement

In the heart of the most beautiful scenery in the Mediterranean, the east coast of Sardinia, the hotel is an elegant oasis just steps from the port of Arbatax.
The quality of hospitality is remarkable.
Rooms clean and refined.
Breakfast in place with lovely view and above all a really high quality restaurant (innovation and tradition, fine local products).
In this hotel was combined smile and efficiency, care and reservedness of all the staff in a harmonious environment.
