“Perfect beach hotel in a beautiful place”
Reviewed 1 November 2009

We dropped in here on Oct 15th which is about a week before they close for the season. It was still amazing. The rooms are moderately sized and simple. They are very clean and airy and comfortable.

The restaurant on the roof is a perfect way to start your day and their little marina side patio is the perfect place to end the day. Cala Gonone is also an amazing place to rent a boat and explore beaches, hike, climb etc...

The staff was very friendly, young and nice to see.

All in all, this isn't a superstar resort, but this is exactly way above what I expected from a beachy hotel that was only charging 60 euro/night.

I sstrongly recommend it.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel in October. Staff is extremely pleasant, smiling and welcoming. The view from the 4th floor restaurant/breakfast room is magnificent. Room was sunny, bright and furnished tastefully. No problem with noise as it was off season.
Definitely The best hotel out of the 4 we stayed at during our 3rd visit to Sardinia.

I stayed two nights at the Bue Marino and was very impressed... The location is fantastic - right next to the port - and the rooms immaculate and comfortable, albeit quite simple in style. What makes this hotel special, however, is the warmth of the welcome. Particular thanks to Manuela and Domenico at the front desk, who could not have been more helpful. The top floor restaurant / breakfast room, with sweeping views down the coast, is also of a high standard, with generous portions and a good selection of Sardinian wines.

We stayed here for 6 nights as part of a two week holiday in Sardinia and loved it. OK the room was a little small but who could complain about the fantastic view from the window and balcony over the water. Having breakfast and dinner on the rooftop terrace was one of the best things about our whole holiday.

Staff are delightful and helpful - even the cleaners. The reception staff and the restaurant staff were just wonderful!

We overlooked the cocktail bar but closing the windows stopped any noise. We loved the cocktail bar for its swings. Sitting with something nice in your hand watching the moon rise over the mountains - who wouldn't love that?

Go there - get a superior room- and you will enjoy! Beach also a few steps away!

Lovely hotel , beautiful location and lovely views. BUT our stay here was ruined by the noise. The hotel has a cocktail bar outside at the front, with very loud music until 12.30am. Even with the windows closed and the AC on full, you could still hear every song.
When the music eventually came to a stop, there was then at least another hour of shrieking, screaming, singing, clattering tourists - followed then by the street cleaning vehicles, dustbin lorries and then finally delivery trucks as dawn broke. We moved rooms from the first to second floor, but this still made no difference to the noise levels.
Shame - as it is a really beautiful hotel in a great setting. But I would advise anyone staying in Cala Gonone to stay a little further from the very centre of the town.
Obviously we were here in August at high season - so maybe it's quieter at other times of the year (tho I'd still enquire about their music in the cocktail bar)

We had lagoustines to start that were in a cherry tomato and rocket sauce, which was did not taste the best. For main we shared what was supposed to be 700g grilled fish wih roast potatoes and salad. The fish was extortionate at 7 euros per 100g, i questioned the weight of the fish considering it just fed 2 of us for 49 Euros!!! With the starters and 1 x bottle of house white the meal came to 95 Euros. Ok the view was great but not worth that considering you can get a better meal elsewhere for half the price and see the sea.

Service at the table was reasonable, bit amateurish for the market they are pitching at. It felt like they were struggling to get round everyone even though they had enough staff. We were sat for 25 minutes waiting for our bill, in the end i approached the manager who without apologies gave me the receipt instantly. We left feeling we had been ripped off. At least the 3 Euro ice cream on the way home made up for the mess of a night (and it was my wifes birthday)

I would say avoid it unless you have money to burn, go to a more down to earth place where to fish is still fresh and half the price!!!!

We stayed here based on other user's positive feedback. Didnt think it was very accurate. The hotel is central, but then cala ganone is very small so being right in front of the harbour isnt an advantage. Also the staff were friendly and helpful. However, our room was small with a view of a brick wall. It was very basic. There was work being done on the roof which meant constant drilling if we were in the room during the day. At night there was a very noisy disco opposite our room till late which meant we needed the aircon on max to try to drown out the noise, even though it wasnt hot enough to need it, and would have been nice to have an open window. The restaurant has lovely views and breakfast was OK. I think it is a decent option if you have nowhere else to stay but i wouldnt say it was excellent by any means. Not recommended for a quiet break.
