Just returned from 4 nights at this hotel. On arrival we were given a room at the back -we had paid for a sea view. The receptionist gave us our sea view, but we were slightly disappointed with the lack of seating .. There was only 1 chair so one of us always had to sit on the bed. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. I asked the receptionist if we could have a chair. She said there was nobody to bring one to us and I asked if we could have one later. It never happened. The room fridge was useless but we got ice from the receptionist who was always playing on her computer. There were very few guests staying and a skeleton staff. Dinner was quite passable the first night but got stranger every night with no real variety. The walk down the road to town was not for us - traffic far too fast and dangerous!
Pool area -it would be lovely in summer, but the staff had let the water go dirty and there was a sunbed lying in it! None of the staff checked the area. The tables outside the front door were just lying around and after a windy day they were strewn all over the place. We picked up a broken one off the road to the car park ! Nobody cared! They really should just close the place down at the end of summer if they can't be bothered.
The furnishings in the public areas were lovely and the hotel was clean. Breakfast was terrible - the last day we actually brought in our own food as there seemed to be less to eat every day! We have had experience of poor Italian breakfasts in general, but this was by far the worst experienced!
Tip - lunch at Aquarious restaurant at the quiet end of the beach next to the hotel and big car park. The lady there does the cooking herself and we had the best ravioli ever tasted.
As lunch was so good we didn't feel so bad about staying in the hotel for dinner!

This hotel is great. You must have a car the hills are murderous! The only thing that let it down was the quality of the food in the restaurant and the grumpy head waiter who would not smile under any circumstances!!! I stayed here with my partner for two whole weeks and it was impossible to make him smile.

If the food could be improved it would be perfection.

I spent one week with my friend at this hotel, both 28 year old females. We found the staff beyond wonderful, admittedly the English of the staff was very limited, however they all went to every effort to accommodate us.

Staff:
We found the Sardinian people to be the friendliest, decent, and fun people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The staff were always smiling to us and we felt the reviews we had read were not reflective of our experience at all. Even outside the hotel they would make every effort with us. Whilst out one night, the girls dragged us on the dance floor and offered us a lift home later.

Restaurant:
The breakfast is minimal, self service croissants, with condiments, cheese, ham, cereal and cake on offer. Being wheat intolerant the only available food was the yogurt. But you can buy fruit from the local shop. We dined once at the hotel, and could not understand the poor reviews. We did not try the set menus, instead the sea-food salad and pasta. Both of which were only €8 each and the quality as good as any of the town's restaurants.

Rooms:
The rooms are more than sufficient, the shower was really good. The safe and fridge no extra charge, and kept clean. The only downfall is the lack of a balcony. I quite enjoy the option of chilling on the balcony at the end of an evening, unfortunately none of the rooms have them.

Pool
It's a large pool, however the weather was poor throughout our stay so we were only there once. As mentioned on other reviews no music is played anywhere in the hotel, so there is a lack of atmosphere.

Communal Areas:
The lounge was large and comfy, the TV was a large flat screen, and the views from the hotel pool and outdoor seating area are amazing.

Location:
If you're fit then it's no problem. It's a 20 minute walk into the town, 25 back - but the roads are really very steep.

Town:
Very small, but it leads to everyone knowing each other and a lovely atmosphere. There are only two bars open late, the Caribbean Bar, which has live music and closes approx 1am, and the Garden Bar, which closes around the same time. The Garden Bar is ridiculously good value for drink. For food, we dined in a number of the restaurants and have to admit I was really rather disappointed with the standard of food. I found it similar to that on Greek/Spanish islands. I can save you the time and just head straight to Simone's. Walk down to the beach and it's by the port to the left direction of the hotel. The staff are fabulous, the food the best you'll find in the town, and the value is brilliant. It's busy in there every night. If you smoke, you can only buy cigarettes from the tobacconists. Be warned everything opens around 8.30-14.30 / 16:30-20.00. The vending machine only works if you have an identity card. The shops being closed for so long can be frustrating. We didn't hire a car, but did go on a boat trip. It really is a beautiful part of the world, but if it rains lots then you aren't left with much to do other than drink the evening and sleep in the day.

Amazing value hotel, the rooms were immaculate and the sea view was definitely worth the upgrade. It took about 10 minutes to walk down the hill into Cala Gonone (and more like 15 minutes to walk up the hill back again!).
Breakfast was continental with nice bread and cakes but could have done with some fruit. There was a supermarket down the road which sold fruit which we ate to supplement breakfast.

The pool was lovely - huge and with a fantastic view of the sea, and there were plenty of sunloungers/parasols. Most days we relaxed by the pool in the hot sunshine.
We only ate in the hotel one night, food was good but there was no atmosphere, possibly because it was out of season. Instead we went into town to the local restaurants which were really good, especially road house blues pub for pizza.
The staff we spoke to in the hotel spoke good English, better than a lot of the locals in town, although they were all very patient with our stumbling Italian.

We did not hire a car which was fine for a lazy week of sunbathing and wandering into town, but if it had rained or we had wanted to go further afield, a car would have been needed as Cala Gonone is quite a sleepy place, with a lovely beach and boat trips but not much more. The hotel collected us from the airport and were waiting when we arrived.
I would definitely recommend this hotel, it was extremely good value and I would go there again.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel but the level of service was 3 star no more. None of the staff speak basic English, Breakfast is poor, repetive and if you arrive at the end of breakfast expect very little. Room service will start knocking on your door from as early as 8.30am asking to clean your room. The swimming pool is situated away from the hotel above the carpark with no bar or atmosphere (never swam once.) The employees were mostly bored teenagers who couldn't care less about hotel standards. We loved the place and the hotel but what you find inside the hotel simply isn't good enough - if you go rent a car, miss breakfast and it can be extremely windy at night making it impossible to sleep!!!!

We had arranged for the hotel to collect us from Alghero airport and they were waiting when we arrived (excellent value 100 euro for both of us for return journey). Staff were very friendly and helpful even though we didn't speak Italian! Giada the Hotel Manager had fantastic English and was most helpful. Lovely atmosphere at hotel between staff, management and guests very relaxed. Magnificent views over the bay we booked a sea view room (definitely worth it for view) and the pool was fantastic very large with beautiful views ample amounts of sun beds & parasols and bar service every 15mins or so. Dining area on terrace again with lovely views, food very edible and you could either have a 3 course set menu for 20 euro or pick whatever from the main menu. Breakfasts were good (really nice coffee) maybe could do with fresh fruit though . Also a more frequent shuttle service from Hotel to town would be of huge benefit most people staying seemed to have hire cars. During our holiday the famous Italian musician Eros Ramazotti arrived with his girlfriend and stayed for a couple of days so we were in celebrity company!!! everybody respected his privacy which I'm sure was appreciated by him. This was our first time in Sardinia and we absolutely loved it, the people are so friendly I can only say that we had a fabulous holiday there and would absolutely go back again.

Brancamaria is not a bad hotel if you know that you have to take your car to get to the beach. It's located in a road, but noises are not too loud. One thing that you have to make sure is that the swimming pool is working or not, as I booked because of the pool and I found that it was out of order everydays. The boss (a blond lady) is god and manages to solve any problem, but her collegue (a curly girl) does not know any English, and in fact I think she can hardy understand Italian...
A waiter at the restaurant who speaks English is one of the best at the hotel.
The restaurant though offer a menu which is not worth it. Better ask for pizzas at the restaurant.
Breakfast is quite poor and quite boring.
