“Good demonstrations”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

This site had a lot of interactive exhibits or kids and adults alike. I really enjoyed seeing the room of working looms and the cutout of how the mill would have looked and worked. You get to really see how crowded, noisy, hot and dirty the mill would have been.

“wow”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

wow not to be missed how hard the :girls" worked for pennies. long hard hours. you had to listen to the bells or be locked out. you had 1/2 hr for lunch and you had to walk back to where you were living. If lunch was not ready you had to get back to work or be locked out and lose your job

“well worth the $”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

We enjoyed seeing where the women worked. Seeing history always helps my girls to understand it better as well as remember the story of those who lived the history. I was amazed at how loud it was even with only a few machines running.

“Great learning fun”
Reviewed 1 August 2013

If you have any family members/ancestors who worked in a factory this is a must do for you and your kids. So many people today do not appreciate how hard the lives were for families who either moved to the cities to get those Industrial Revolution jobs or who immigrated here and had to start from scratch. This really gives you a clear sense of how oppressive it must have been to work in a textile factory during that time. There is a room with working looms, only a small portion of them are running and it is deafening! Do check it out, it is really a fun learning experience for adult and older kids (10 and up).

“Excellent Museum, very educational and interactive”
Reviewed 19 July 2013

Well worth a visit. Explains the history and process of making textiles in a step by step process. Very good place to take children to help them understand industrialization in the U.S.
