“Excellent value - with a view!”
Reviewed 23 November 2013 via mobile

My wife and I stayed two nights this September while touring Sardinia. Easy to book, easy to find, dramatic location with dramatic views and sunsets. Helpful staff on desk, restaurant staff a tad brusque but still friendly. Food excellent and huge portions; recommend the more local dishes! Clearly popular with locals which we take as a good sign. We paid slightly more for room with a view and glad we did - still stupidly cheap. Room small and fairly bare and a bit worn but had all we needed, and we weren't paying for luxury. WiFi only in lounge area but worked well. Definitely recommended.

View is spectacular, although our Fiat Panda rental didn't survive the tough trip up the mountain. We might just have been unlucky.
Staff were excellent, they even gave us a lift up the mountain when needed. Wine is spectacular, food is well-intentioned but doesn't always impress. Some of the pasta dishes (exception being ravioli) in particular disappointed. Room was unspectacular, prices pretty fair. Breakfasts were OK.

A unique stay, for sure.

We returned to Coop Enis for a few nights to camp and use it as a base for a few of the activities around NU that we missed last year.

Whilst work continues on improving the rest of the site, the campsite has seen no work meaning that whilst the plots are fine for small tents, there's only access to one shower and one toilet and neither of them work properly (as useless as last year).

As this whole site is run as a cooperative the service you receive depends upon the particular member helping out that day. Most were OK but one gentleman was particularly unhelpful; he gave us plenty of information but it was all incorrect!

Located in a high position, up the hill of Monte Macione, the hotel is nice. We stayed a few days, and food has been always delicious. Rooms are a bit small, but there is all you need! Nice place, good food and great service! If you come to Oliena this is a nice choice!

I have stayed at Coop Enis 3 times this year, twice in one of their balcony rooms (Jan) and once on their campsite (Apr). The first time the gentleman on duty was most helpful, showing me maps and suggesting routes to walk. The following time the gentleman on duty was pretty surly and we seemed an inconvenience to him.

Do pay the little extra for a higher room with access to the communal terrace. The views aren't fantastic but are better than nothing. There is an issue with just how easily noise travels between the rooms and this did affect my sleep. If camping be aware that the terraced pitches are fine for 2man tents, but pushing it for anything larger. The ablution solution for campers isn't ideal either, having to queue for access to a tiny showeroom that only one person can use at once. They also run a jeep pickup service to and from Oliena / Nuoro which is not too badly priced for groups.

The food was of a good rustic standard and although heavily seasoned I enjoyed it as I like that sort of thing. Do try the local produce (wine, cheese, mirto, etc) as it's all part of the experience.

I will be staying again as I find this the best place to stay around Oliena.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the top floor.

The views from the terrace are probably the first thing that will attract you to Enis and they certainly live up to expectations. Watching the sunsets and the lights of Nuoro and Oliena coming alive in the evening quickly became a routine during our 3 night stay.
The staff are attentive and friendly and we felt had a genuine interest in our comfort and wellbeing and were clearly motivated to share the best of their area with us whether that was food, drink or recommendations for day trips.
The rooms are clean and comfortable ( we payed the extra for a terrace room with the mountain view on tap) well proportioned and reasonably well equipped. Hard water had taken a toll on the shower head which acted like a bit of a hose and some of the bathroom fittings were a bit tatty.
The other issue that became apparent in the rooms we were in was the high sound transmission from other rooms and the corridor. As a light sleeper this was a real nuisance to me.
The food was great. If, by the time you have got here and have been offered flat crispy flat bread with every meal that has disappointed then take heart. Here the crisp bread is fresh, light and worryingly eatable. If, however, you go on from here elsewhere expect the crisp bread to go downhill quicker than the road to Oliena. Highlights of the menu for us were the suckling pig, the boar, and the rabbit. The local cheeses are also worth taking some time over. The local wine Cannonau from the Oliena wine coop is now a firm family friend and visits often. A half litre caraf is yours with dinner for 6 euro (2012) I haven't had such a nice drink at such a reasonable price ever!
We based ourselves here for a couple of days of walking, can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: A great day out from here, drive to Tiscali, climb Tiscal in the morning. Then, drive straight to Su...
