Apologies for the long review but I wanted to do the resort justice!
We have just returned from an amazing week at forte village Ill Borgo.
We travelled as a family with our 2 teenage daughters (14 & 15) and We had high expectations for this holiday as it was by no means cheap.
We were not disappointed.

We had chosen the resort as we wanted a little bit of luxury for the adults and lots of activities for the girls to get involved in if they chose too.
This resort is huge we were told that while we were there the resort was full (1400 guests) but at no point did it feel overcrowded or did we have to 'fight' for space anywhere.

We arrived via private transfer and were immediately met and transferred by buggy to our accommodation where we were greeted by the manager and his team.
Our room was outstanding. I understand that the rooms at Ill Borgo have recently been refurbished and this has obviously been done to a very high standard.
Our girls were based in a room next door but had exactly the same standard of room.

The room was spotless and were cleaned daily with a turn down service and a towel change every evening.
The beds were firm but comfortable with extra pillows if needed.
The rooms were air conditioned which was a god send as the night time temperatures were up to 30 degrees.
They were also equipped with a mini fridge, snacks, telephone, hair dryer and toiletries. With a small outside patio/garden area.

All of the outside areas were spotlessly clean including the beach, pool areas and communal toilets.
We spent most of our days at the oasis pool and would arrive around 11am. There were always free beds and the pool attendants were very good at managing the beds to ensure that there were beds for any guests that wanted them by removing towels that had been left on them.
We never had a problem getting beds around the pool even when we returned after lunch around 2pm.

There were a good choice of activities and plenty to keep everyone in the family busy.
The girls got involved in the 'U Club' (for teenagers) on a couple of occasions and did some water sports, painting and made Pizza.
Frankie (club rep) needs a mention here as he made our girls feel very welcome and included into the group.
Evening entertainment included music, live bands, shows and competitions, with plenty of bars within the resort serving wine, champagne and cocktails.
Our room was very close to the arena and we didn't have a problem with the noise as most evenings it was finished by 11pm.

Food at Forte was outstanding. There are a number of restaurants to choose from most of them you need to make reservations for but this was not a problem as there is an app that can be used for this or the staff at reception can organize this for you. There were 2 that did not require reservations 1 buffet, 1 set menu.
Some of the more 'fine dining' restaurants require a supplement (105 € pp) but were well worth that. I recommend them all.
We tried different restaurants for lunch but once we had eaten at the oasis restaurant we ate there on most days.
The girls had the freedom to move around the resort independently.

Just a couple of things to be aware of....
1. Everything outside of breakfast and 'some' restaurants for dinner are an extra cost including some of the activities included in the kids club
2. There is a booking system for beds on the beach and most guests book for the duration of their stay, whether they are using the Beach or not.
3. We booked though a travel agent back in December 2016 and only had the choice of 2 types of accommodation so if you are considering a booking I would suggest the earlier the better.
As I have said before this was not a budget holiday but we had a the most relaxing holiday here.

Last but not least I have to say that if you are ever lucky enough to stay at Ill Borgo then you will have the honour of meeting Raimondo and his team. I have to say a very big Thank You to them all. Raimondo (I'll Borgo Manager) & his team Guilia & Lorenzo, reduced a lot of the stresses that come with arriving at a new resort.
They made us feel so welcome from the minute we arrived, were always there to answer any questions and dealt with any problems that we thought we were having.........as most of the time they were not really problems!
All of the staff that we met at the resort were courteous and friendly but the service from Raimondo was exceptional, if only every business could provide the same level of customer service. Raimondo always took the time to say hello wherever he was and whatever he was doing and it was evident that he has a passion for his job and the resort.
I cannot express enough how much he & his team helped to make our holiday even more relaxing.
Keep up the good work all of you.

I just have 2 suggestions......
1. Considering how much a holiday here can cost I feel that the mini bar should be included in the price particularly the drinking water in the rooms.
2. There should be consideration to English entertainment TV channels.
I understand that guests do not spend much time in the rooms but when we do we would like to relax with the TV on and watch something other than news channels. There are lots of Russian, German & Arabic channels.
These are not make or break suggestions and did not spoil our holiday one little bit, but would definitely help to make it a little more special.

my family have been visiting the resort since 1991 and we went back last week -it was great to see so many of the long standing staff still there and sad to learn that some had moved on . The resort has been upgraded yet again and the facilities are better every year but it is really the staff who make all the difference and why we always go back

What a beautiful place.
Wonderful people, amazing food, top class service.
Cannot rate this place highly enough!

Beaches are clean with lovely white sand. Clear water in the sea. Great choice of swimming pools. Loads of activities for the kids including a rugby, tennis, netball and football academy (and for the football keen dads out there, there is even an adults match in the evening!).
Great choice of food in restaurants with plenty of choices for children.
Staff around the pools were so friendly, waitresses and waiters were fantastic and everyone walks around with a smile on their face.

One of those holiday were the week flew by. Wish I could go back again next week!

Not the cheapest place to visit but when you take everything into account it's worth it.

Room Tip: Don't waste your time trying to use the free Wi-Fi. On day one just pay for the weekly premium package. (25 euros).

Finally I managed to see the new rooms of the Borgo. I had been a guest of the facility, but the team's great availability and kindness was not enough to wipe the memories a bit disappointing in the unrestrained rooms. In fact while my travel friends enjoyed the new Palms rooms, I kept choosing the Borgo. Today I recommend anyone to try this small boutique hotel. I spent Easter at the Forte Village and thanks to Mr. Salvatore, I was able to make a show round and admire the beauty of the new gardens that adorn the new rooms of the Borgo. I thank the team of Restaurant Cavalieri in particular Mr. Giuseppe for his sympathy, availability and all the attentions reserved for my family.

The resort is fantastic with excellent beach and kid's club especially. Il Borgo room's are currently (September 2016) in a poor sate of repair - except for 4 rooms up near the reception - these are the rooms you see in the photos on the website. I would strongly recommend the other Hotel's on site for this year (2016). We understand that in the winter 2016/7 all Il Borgo rooms are due for dramatic renovation. So 2017 should be as per the website.

If you must stay at Il Borgo I suggest you insist on a room as per the website - otherwise be prepared for a little shock! One idea is to do a 'screen grab' off the website and ask for confirmation that this is what you will get on onsite.

Everything else at the resort is good to excellent. As others report, Raimondo Cabua is the perfect example of a great hotelier but with the challenge of the property he manages. If you have any problems he is delighted to assist. But there is a limit to his magic with these rooms.

The management should really reconsider whether the present inaccurate website photos for Il Borgo should not be taken down as a matter of honesty!

Room Tip: Insist on one of 4 rooms nearest main reception, if staying in 2016.
