This hotel has to have one of the most bizarre approaches. Turn left off the road from Cagliari at a sign showing the hotel name and the tarmac stops after 50 meters and turns into a dirt track passing broken, dirty, professional nursery greenhouses. About a kilometre later you come to some trees within which you find the hotel. However, at night, with no lighting and no follow on signage, this journey would have been pretty scary – you really do not know what you will find, until eventually you come across the hotel frontage.
A lovely reception area and reception staff. In fact all of the staff – reception, waiters and waitresses, porters and cleaners were all really helpful, smiling and up beat. Well done.
The rooms are clean, welcoming and nicely air conditioned with a quiet fan – beats any Hilton in the USA!
The infinity pool on the beach was great, including the sandy and part tree’d area around it. The actual beach area is very small with a lot of dried seaweed and rocks around the edge and often on the waters’ edge. We thought the lounger area around and adjacent to the pool could get packed and cramped both easily and frequently, but we did not experience this.
The large, palm tree filled grounds are beautiful and give a great sense of space.
Although it was a holiday, only having wifi in the reception area is a pain.
The food we had, tasted really good and was well prepared and laid out. However, the A la Carte menu hardly changed during the week we were there and the table d’hôte menu was expensive compared to fantastic meals in Pula, the local town and other local restaurants especially the Agriturismo’s.
Breakfast food quality was fine, but the buffet style collection area was cramped. The staff did manage to keep the area “serviced”, but more space would help. Orange juice was chargeable as were coffees from the famous Italian Gaggia coffee machine centre. The self service coffee machine most people used was a poor second. This is Italy.
The final thing we did not really like was that people who had half board were allowed to go much earlier to dinner and everyone else had to wait till 8.15pm. Not always convenient. In addition, the tables outside by the pool were reserved for guests on a half board basis.
None the less, a good hotel and great staff.
