“lovely hotel, lovely holiday.”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. We enjoyed our first visit but this time it was even better. Last year we stayed in a superior sea view room in the clean, stylish main hotel. We had a great view and no problems but this year opted for a Nidi Suite to allow for more space for ourlittle boy. This entirely lived up to our expectations.

The accommodation was airy, spacious with a hugh patio area. The only criticism i have is that the bathroom could have done with an upgrade. We had a beautiful view of the sea, gardens and mountains and it was peaceful and relaxing. There was a slight smell at times but this is not from sewage as some people believe but the nearby river and it didnt stop us enjoying a drink in the evening after dinner.

The food was excellent and varied and the staff in the Wild Duck Restaurant attentive and friendly- especially to our son. They were happy to provide him with a more child friendly meal option to those on the main menu. Even the much maligned Sandro was friendly and helpful but especial thanks go to Simone who was very kind and friendly. In fact, every staff member, from the entertainment staff to the receptionist s were most helpful and pleasant.

Although we stayed at the end of the high season, the entertainment wasn't obtrusive and the Sardinian night was particularly pleasant . The pool area and beach are excellent-very clean and child friendly. Yes, the front tier of beach recliners are charged for but the free deck chairs just behind are equally good.

As for comments about seaweed, that does appear after a stormy night at sea. I don't think the hotel can be held accountable for a natural phenomenon and the sea water is otherwise crystal clear. And although remote, a bus stops outside the hotel gates, allowing guests to reach nearby Pula and from there the beach and sights of Nola.

All in all, a well run, family friendly hotel that i highly recommend.

Room Tip: Choose a Nidi Suite if you are a family

Our first impression when we entered the car park was "What have we come to." The hotel looked tired and in need of some T.L.C. However once we entered reception it was totally different. The reception was spacious, spotless, and well staffed . Our room was not ready but we found the bar for an hour or so, no problem. Our superior room had a magnificent sea view and a very welcome complimentary bottle of bubbly waiting for us. Things were looking up. We explored the hotel and looked at the pools and the lovely beach. We found the food of excellent quality and plenty of choice. The staff we found extremely friendly and all enthusiastic at their work. As the week went on we noticed the gardening team busy at work tidying up as if they had read my thoughts. The beach was fantastic , we chose to sit under the shades on deck chairs as the lounger/brollies were expensive. Later on we would have a drink by the pool. Overall we had a very enjoyable relaxing holiday.
Twice during our stay we noticed two lifeguards actually carry a disabled lady on to the beach and later on bring her back. This endorsed our impression of the totally committed team of staff at the hotel.
Down-side....... The bath-room was rather dated , a walk -in shower would be an improvement. The toilet seat was damaged ( this should have been replaced as a matter of course)

Room Tip: Splash out on a superior room for a sea view and balcony. Can be noisy when entertainment is on but...

First of all I want to say that I agree with everything reported by Sandra H. of London. We were at the hotel in August as well but stayed in the I Nidi suites. I want to be fair so will give the positives first:

The food in the Wild Duck restaurant was excellent and the waiters (especially Sandro) as well as the manager were always professional, polite and friendly.

The hotel was clean as well as our suite and the cleaning lady was friendly and efficient. Our two rooms were large with a spacious terrace looking out onto a lovely kept garden. AC in the rooms was perfect

Now the negatives:
EVERYTHING is extra.......
The sewage treatment plant is very close to some of the suites so there is no sitting on the balcony early morning and late afternoon unless you have no sense of smell....
The suite had a jacuzzi which could be accessed through a french window in the bathroom. This huge window had no lock and could have been entered by anyone at anytime.
Evening entertainment consisted of local "talent" and sometimes piped music.
Internet has to be paid for while it is free in the 3 star sister hotel 150 metres up the beach.
Reception staff need to be more professionally trained.
Hotel is far from anywhere.
All in all the whole place needs a SERIOUS makeover and they need either to reduce their exorbitant prices OR cancel all those nasty extras.

We will not be back........

Room Tip: Not by the pool - too noisy. Far from the sewage plant...

The only thing that makes this hotel a 4 star is the food.
The beach is dirty and the sea full of seaweed.the sun loungers on the beach you have to pay for!!the wifi/Spa/Gym Crazy golf (Which was a joke) tennis are all extra's when you have already paid 4 star prices.

Food is great and the puddings are excellent. The pool is nice but very tired and tiles are unsafe for small children. There is only one set of steps out of the pool which for most is diffilcult and for older people impossible. This hotel needs a complete overall for the rooms as the shower leaked the safe had to be fixed a couple of times and the electrics were to me unsafe.
Staff are very helpful and cleaning was good in the rooms.
You do need a car otherwise after a week you would go stir crazy as there is nothing else to do.

Room Tip: Over the pool are good but can be noisy.I didnt see the nidi suites so cannot make a comment. We were...

We've had a great time at Hotel Flamingo. There is a general relaxing atmosphere in the hotel and it wasn't crowded at all even though our stay was during peak season. Management personnel was very professional and understanding of our needs (we had a big group of people all arriving at different dates) and was willing to go an extra mile to make sure our stay ran smoothly.

In terms of the hotel grounds - there is a spacious clean private beach, with good sunbeds and a smooth sea entrance. There is also a eucalyptus forest which was good for walks as it kept the heat away. Hidden in the forest is a hotel restaurant called the Wild Duck where we had our dinners. The food was absolutly amazing and restaurant staff was super friendly and very hands on. A big plus was the wine list that had good priced quality Sardinian wine.

The hotel Is also very kids friendly - there is an entertainment team keeping kids of all ages busy throughout the day with games, competitions and dancing.

The rooms that we had at the Inidi part of the hotel were very spacious, clean and had big balconies with own sunbeds and umbrellas.

Overall we were pleasantly surprised by prices at the hotel. There wasn't a big mark up on prices for things like water, soft drinks or alcohol which was a big advantage considering the hotel is quite isolated and there are no shops in the immediate walking distance.

Room Tip: Inidi suits are the best in terms of size of rooms and location

We really enjoyed our stay at Flamingo Hotel. The atmosphere, room, dinner, entertainment, sport, beach and swimming pool facilities were really good.
Every Day in the evening we listend to the fantastic Live Music Programme with Jazz and Pop Music around the swimming pool. Especially at Tuesday, when we arrived, there was a great show and most people started to dance because of the fantastic programme and animation.

Room Tip: Our room was very quiet, since it was not directly at the swimming pool. That we enjoyed very much.

The size of room is good, but quite old, could do a bit re-decorate.
Swimming pool is big and with a diving board, which kids enjoyed very much. And there is direct access to the beach, nice and clean.
The mini club is fantastic. There are morning, afternoon and evening activities, suitable for different age group. The stuff is very friendly to kids and who are trustable to leave kids with them. And it is free!
The only disappointment is the food. We had half board package, like everybody did. The dinner is very crowded and all in a rush, food quality is so so. Dessert is buffet type and normally the goodies were gone before you got there. So we had to grab some before we had our main course.
Overall speaking, this is a good hotel for family travel.
