“An Interesting but lovely experience”
Reviewed 11 June 2014 via mobile

Where do I start....beautiful hotel right on the beach! Probably the best located one in the area! We had a balcony overlooking the poolside and the beach, it was just idyllic hearing the waves crashing onto the shore, especially early in the morning! The special moments were watching little swallows swooping down across the pool and picking up
bugs to feed their young relentlessly... morning and
night! Food was quite ambitious with so many people
to feed, and wasnt always hot enough, the staff were polite, professional and very hard working..especially two lovely young ladies...Nicolette and Valentina! The concierge was permanently on call for all questions and information!
We were here on June 2nd....the perfect week, temperature was 28-30c but rises to about 42c in July/August! Hotel wasnt too crowded either! Breathtaking scenery through Chia and caribbean beachy bays, but you need a car to get anywhere away from the area! There is a limited bus service.. and with previous reviews, this is the perfect place to stay if you are happy with hotel...pool....beach!!
I would like to give 5*'s but our air conditioning wasnt working properly, the hair dryer kept stopping and the water was often very luke warm......but saying that, none of these things spoilt the holiday! Had the weather not been glorious, it might have niggled more!
A very unspoilt uncommercial rural italian resort...perfect for a chilled out break!

Although the weather was disappointing, the hotel was very good. We had a nidi room, overlooking the garden, and it was lovely sitting on our terrace, with a drink, listening to the birds. Staff were friendly, the service excellent, the food delicious...we had sole, scampi, tuna, marlin, prawns, salmon, squid, octopus...and more! The only slightly downside was that there was so little to do at the hotel. We read at least two books. Thank goodness for the excellent bus service from outside the hotel, and that we had a hire car for a few days.

Room Tip: Go for a nidi room if you don't mind not having a sea view, which you have if you stay in the ma...

I have been at Flaming with my family two years in a row, always in September. And we are going for the third time this coming September. I think Nidi rooms offer the best experience as they are quite new and tidy and offer the access to the Wild Duck restaurant which is a bit more refined and less crowded than the one in the main building. We have always enjoyed the variety and quality of food. I have read other opinions, also negative, and despite I can recognize the points raised, I derive that it is clearly a question of individual taste. It is normal for hotels of this kind to limit the selection to a number of options at dinner. The buffet at lunch is quite rich. Maybe to improve is the selection at the bar where there choice is limited between salad and toast (and small pizzas which, however, the kids love...).
The location by the sea is excellent if what one wants just room-restaurant-beach.
The staff is always very kind and helpful, in every area: excellent room service, restaurant and bar. We have two little girls and the staff has the ability to give the right attention without overdoing it.
The negatives are: WI-FI could be offered for free.
The mini golf: if it cannot be re-done, then get rid of it. Its current state is more a damage than an asset for the image of the hotel.
Improve the swimming pool for children as the existing one is really too small.

Room Tip: Choose I Nidi if possible

Set in attractive gardens next to the white sand beach, this hotel offers clean, comfortable rooms both in separate units or the main building. The pool and surrounding area is lovely, with plenty of loungers. I also swam in the sea in October, although I had to watch out for pebbles just where you enter the water . I found a spot where it was just sand so could get in and out of the sea there.
The food and service was very good and the staff were friendly. There were places to relax around the reception area, a library, bar, comfy sofas and generally a nice atmosphere. There wasn't a lot going on as it was the end of the season and the spa was closed except for the sauna. (It officially closes Sept. 30, please note). TV and internet were available but not brilliant, no English channels and tickets required for internet, but we went to relax and get away from it all, so no problem for us. We hired bicycles one day, arranged by the hotel, and were given helpful information about local buses, which were great and cheap. We visited Pula for the market and a bit of shopping - a pretty little town with a very nice pizzeria in the main square. Another bus trip took us to the beautiful beaches of Chia, where the turquoise sea and sandy beaches were amazing.
We could also have played tennis at the hotel (but only if we'd brought our own balls, those we saw people playing with, presumably from the hotel, were from last century) or crazy golf, although again, some maintenance work was needed.
I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want to chill out and get some sun. There isn't a lot to do unless you hire a car and go exploring but if you just want to relax and be waited upon, it's fine.
I left one of my belongings in the room and the staff were kind enough to send it on to me, although I had to pay for postage. I also noticed that it was a child-friendly hotel, although we were just a couple.

Room Tip: Ours must have been one of the cheaper rooms because it had no balcony - maybe ask for an upstairs o...

Visited the hotel out of season, weather was good, but oh dear, that is where the plusses end. To visit Pula, you catch a bus, this can get crowded, miss the mid day return, and you wait in a small town, shut down for the siesta. Food poor, with lunchtime a very sparse menu. Evening meals fixed, with many guests taking their desert before the main. Trip spoiled more when an elderly man died on the beach, and was left in full sun until the authorities arrived. Staff were pleasant, with the entertainments team working hard to engage guests. Would not return

I really enjoyed staying at the Hotel Flamingo. The staff was really friendly and everyone spoke english. The room I stayed in was a deluxe room, quite spacious with a nice balcony and sun bed ! The room is cleaned thoroughly every day. Small inconvenient : the TV in the room only offers Italian channels and in Italy, all the movies are dubbed in Italian so there is not much to see on TV if you don't speak the language. The hotel itself is amazing and beautifully located just a few meters from the beach. On the beach, you are free to use a sun bed but you have to rent umbrellas and a beach towel (beach towel is only 3 euros). There are also two pools and sun beds all around the pools to enjoy. Try the espresso at the bar next to the pool, it is amazing.

As per the food, it was really tasty, the different kinds of pasta they make are simply delicious. There is not much variety to choose from but the food they propose is good for my taste. Breakfast is also good & fairly diversed.

Really, the only truly negative thing I can say about this hotel is the poor internet connexion. There is no internet in the rooms, and in the lobby, you have to take tickets that give you internet access, for a single device, for an hour or two at most (then you have to take another ticket).

All in all, I would recommend this hotel if you just want a break from the outside world and need to unwine... Perfect location, beautiful hotel, very friendly staff.

Been there at the end of september. The hotel is very comfortable and the swimming pool area just great. The rooms are large and very clean. The beach is nice, with white sand. It is a rather open area, so on windy days it may be a bit difficult to bath (guess it is much less of a problem during the summer). The food was very good (only the juices could be better). Wi-Fi was rather weak; not a deal breaker, but the price charged was too high for the level of service. The fitness center was below average, and some of the items not working properly. However, I found it much more enjoyable to jog along the street just behind the sea. In spite of a couple of quirks, I had a great time there. The nearby archeological site of Nora is just great, and top-level beaches are at small distance (Nora, Chia, ...).
