Grand Hotel Corallaro
Certificate of Excellence

We chose this hotel to visit Corsica island and to explore famous rocks Capo Testa Santa and Valle della Luna (Moon Valey). Perfect location -- 100 m. to the lovely beach with incredible azure transparent water and white sand (the hotel is closest to the beach). The water was the clearest we have ever seen in Mediterania. 300 m. to the main square with bars and restaurants. 1 кm. to the ferry terminal to Corsica. 3 km. to the Natural Park Capo Testa.
You can easy reach nice medieval town Castelsardo too.

Hotel is well run and good for friends and families. Children under 12 can stay free of charge. The staff is very amicable and welcoming. They can arrange for you excursions with their partners if you want. (For example beautiful boat trip to Natural Parc of la Maddalena -- to visit Rose Beach, small islands, to swim and to see medieval town.)

You can choose half-board base -- dinner a-la carte is tasty, waiters are professional. There are convenient family rooms. On the hotel site you can book apartments for 3, 4 or 6 persons. The pull area is nice. In the evening you can seat there and spent time with pleasure. Management is very accurate and efficient. Next time we will stay at "Corallaro" again -- because of сomfort, location and reasonable prices.
We will recommend the hotel to our friends too.

Room Tip: Choose room with balcony.

We splashed out on two rooms with sea view and balcony and it really worth it!! The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff all incredibly friendly. The swimming pool is a little small but the hotel is right next to the beach and a short drive from other stunning places. The decor is a little dated but the clean, big airy rooms make up for it.
Our only regret was having booked half board. Although the food is good, the restaurant is run by the most unwelcoming Maitre d', who runs an overly controlled, slow and seeming unfair booking system. At breakfast you have to wait till he DECIDES to come over to speak with you about your dinner booking. It was not worth the hassle especially since we could have easily gone to one of the dozens of pretty good restaurants within walking distance. Hadn't been for this unpleasant experience, we would give the hotel 5 stars.

Room Tip: Sea view room with open balcony which is cooler than the covered balconies.

We stayed at this hotel the last 2 weeks of August and can only agree with all the previous posts as to how good it is. The staff made the difference between Very Good and Excellent for me.

Pro's

The front desk staff are excellent and engaging on all things Sardinia and even sorted out a problem with our pushchair......... the best hotel staff I have come across in a long time including many 5 star hotel stays. The cleaning staff were also very friendly and helpful ........ the room still looked great, even with a 2 year old making a mess every day!

We had a nice balcony overlooking the sea (a must when you have a 2 year old)

The pool area is well designed and makes for a nice area to sit in the evening also (they had a singer one evening by the pool which was lovely)

Close to the small beach (100m) which is very very clean with a few showers etc

Close to the main Piazza which is really nice (just a 5 minute walk though fairly steep or take the steps at the back of the hotel if you want an easier climb and you don't have a pushchair)

Good pizza restaurant near the entrance to the hotel which is reasonable and has great staff who welcome kids.

Cons (Minor)

We had Bed and Breakfast but found it a bit difficult to find a table some mornings as they mostly seemed allocated to full board guests though I expect this is not a problem apart from August

The scambled eggs were often a bit cold and unappealing looking (a small suggestion would be to have a chef cook eggs in different ways according to guests wishes in the restaurant to order as this would make a huge difference)

Other general comments but not hotel related:

Near the small beach which has the clearest water I have seen in Europe (30m+ visibility). The only downside in August which has nothing whatsoever to do with the hotel is that the beach beds are booked way in advance through August by repeat local visitors and you are therefore forced to buy a parasol and use towels. Having said that, it did force us into a car and we visited some beautiful and less busy beaches in the area,

Near Capo Testa which is just spectacular!

Definitely do Bonafacio via the ferry for a day and also Castelsardo which is a wonderful old town on top of a hill by the sea.

Porto Cervo is nice if you want to see some big boats and designer stores ..........

Room Tip: Sea view balcony is a must in the summer

We were greeted by very smily welcoming staff when we checked in. The woman from Tirol, we didn't catch her name, was especially helpful and eager to please. She also spoke English which helped us greatly, as not many of the other staff spoke any at all. She gave us some great recommendations for eating in town. Marlin was our favourite, followed by Papa Satan.

We seemed to be forgotten about every morning at breakfast though, we were often left standing waiting for a table. Once we had a table, it was rarely made up for us, and we usually had to chase a waiter to order a coffee and get any service. This didn't seem to happen to anyone around us though - so maybe it was just us. Still it left us feeling a bit annoyed. The breakfast spread overall was pretty uninspiring, i was surprised to find although they stocked loads of different spreads for bread, they didn't have any butter i could find.

We stayed in room 404, having paid extra for a room with a balcony and sea view. You could only see the sea when you were standing, because the balcony wall was so high, not exactly what i was expecting, but not so bad, as the view over to Corsica really was very pretty.

The room could do with cooler air conditioning, 18 degrees C was the lowest setting and it was roasting hot.

The bathroom was small, with just a shower (the water pressure varied dramatically, once my husband was having a shower and the water just stopped running!), but it was very clean.

The bed was surprisingly big and comfortable, but i could have done with an extra pillow.

The hotel is at the bottom of a steep hill, but there are stairs that lead up to the town from the car park (there is plenty of parking) so not so hard on your legs. The Hotel is also the closest to the beach (as far as i could see), although it is set back a little bit, down a drive that is around 100m or so. Overall, we thought it had a great little situation. I much preferred staying next to the beach, than up in the town.

We enjoyed sunbathing around the pool, although the deck chairs mean you can't lay on your stomach, my husband laid down on the ground, but he said it was uncomfortable. The pool was a good temperature and very clean.

Our favourite beach was Rena Majore - it was so beautiful. Well worth the drive out of town.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here, it is a well run family hotel, in a great little spot.

Room Tip: The 400 rooms are at the very top of the hotel, and you have a fair walk to them. Room 404 had a sea...

We booked this hotel at the last minute at the end of August. It is a well run hotel. The reception staff are efficient and well organised and seemingly always smiling. They speak good english too.

The hotel overall is very clean, including spotless rooms. Some of the exterior stairwells could do with some attention, as well as perhaps some shielding from view of the back of the kitchen, bins etc. The pool area is nice and sheltered which was good because the weather was windy and a little cold at times (yes it was August!).

The location is excellent, just 100 metres from the beach with lots of car parking too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the hotel has a nice holiday atmosphere - relaxed yet efficient, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, including us. Very good value.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have balcony and great sea views over looking Corsica in distance.

A 100 or so meters to a beautiful beach, a few hundred meters to the lovely main Piazza of the town surrounded by dozens of restaurants, bars, shops and gelaterias. Add in the swimming pool in the forecourt of the hotel (the friendly dog comes free), the smiling ever helpful staff both at reception, breakfast and the bar and you have a recipe for a great place to stay for couples, families etc

This was our first trip to Sardegna and perhaps the best vacations ever. The Corallaro Hotel, is nice, fairly small hotel with excellent locations near the little beach and 500 m from the town with many restaurances, shops etc. It is family owned / run and you can really feel it. The owners are very involved in daily activities, supporting staff. Everybodu is friendly, attentive and very professional. The owner is making this hotel renovated, so the lobby and the first floor (where we had our rooom) is looking fresh and modern. The work is done in low season, so don't worry. There isn't any noice or anything. Some rooms are without balcony and that is a bit of the problem as you want to dry your swimming suites etc. Especially, since the hotel is charging EUR 5 per towel. But that is the only problem. If you are an early bird, bear in mind that the brekfast finishes by 9.30 am. Breakfast servings are typical Italian, so don't expect English breakfast :-). We had bad and breakfast, so can't really comment on quality of other meals but had lunch once at the hotel and it was very good. Anyway, there are plenty of restaurances around, so you are not restricted to the hotel food. We can certainly recommend this hotel to everybody. It is really great and we would be happy to come back there at some point in the future. If you like pets, we have a surprise for you. There was a lovely dog, German Shepherd, Malo who likes playing with everybody. A super friendly dog. Some hints about Sardegna. It was a lot less crowdy then expected. I think there is a crisis feeling. Beautiful beaches, great landscapes. La Maddalena Island is must see ! Sardegna is great for water sports, especially windsurfing and kite. The Porto Pollo Spot is very crowdy, so we recommend the place called Vignola with the kite/windsurf/diving school. Don't waste your time and book Corallaro and amazing holidays in Sardegna. Have a good fun !

Room Tip: Rooms from the parking a bit noisy in the morning. Try to get a room with a balcony. There are not...
