How can people sell a room like this to someone who is obviously on their holiday ? there is no other reason to be in Stintino. The hotel restaurant is now closed so they send you to another one which they own "Lu Fanali" i begin with Linguine alle sei vongole followed by swordfish steak which had been sliced with a ham slicer, but the setting mistakingly has not been changed i can`t recall a meaner place, anyway forget all that misery come and enjoy the view with me from my room. regards John

Excellent family run hotel in the middle of Stintino.Ask for a room with a balcony to sunbathe and watch the world go by in the street below (room 14) or pay a little bit extra and book the room on the top floor (room 25 - but six small flights of stairs and no lift) to benefit from a huge roof terrace with panoramic views.

The food in the hotel is the best in town - whilst walking around town on the first night an old lady assumed we were searching for restaurants and told us to go to Silvestrinos. Most nights there was a good mix of locals and hotel guests , which is always encouraging.

Wander round the two marinas at either side of the village . For fantastic pizzas try the restaurant /cafe overlooking the (tiny) beach and main harbour.

From the town head by car a couple of miles towards Capo del Falcone and prepare to say "Wow" as La Pelosa beach comes into view . The sea is a stunning colour on a sunny day. The beach can get very crowded especially in summer (we had a day trip here when staying at Isola Rossa further east along the coast on an earlier holiday in July).Try driving to the very end of the parking area and walk down instead to the much smaller La Pelosetta beach - the views are even more amazing and the rocks around the adjoining Piana island are fabulous for snorkeling.

For an unusual excursion , drive to the "ghost town " of Argentiera - a largely abandoned silver mining town over looking the coast . The EU is pumping in money to turn the mine into a museum (not yet open). The main beach is OK but the best beach is 3 or 4 miles north of the town.

In short an excellent part of the world to unwind for a few days ,especially if you are a beach lover

Il Silvestrino is an absolutely lovely, family-run hotel and restaurant smack in the middle of the fishing village Stintino, on the northwest tip of Sardinia. Due to a variety of circumstances, the friend I was traveling with had to leave, so I was in Stintino for five days, alone, without a car (and I don't drive). Since it was off season (April), I was fairly isolated (I had to take several busses to get anywhere). Yet I had a terrific time. My room at Il Silvestrino was beautiful--it was at the top of the inn (no stairs) with a giant roof deck overlooking the village and the azure sea and boats bobbing in the water. Accommodations were simple but very clean, and Rita, the daughter of the man who started this hotel in 1949, was terrific. She speaks wonderful English (and French and German and a variety of other languages) and made me feel extremely welcome, looking up various bus schedules and booking a day long trip on a catamaran to Assinara island (recommended)! Best of all was the restaurant--it's the best in town and I ate there every night. The seafood (fresh, local) was outrageously delicious, the local Sardinian desserts equally so.

Days, I walked the 3 km. to La Pelosa beach, which was spectacular (but small--I would not recommend trying this beach during high season, but low season, it was perfect). Other than that, I lounged on my terrace, took the aforementioned sailing trip and enjoyed the food! I'd highly recommend this place, especially since it was only 60 euros off season!

Travelled to Stintino in July during a 10 day trip to Sardinia.

A def must visit if you have a car and are able to make the 40 min drive from Alghero! The beaches in Stintino are fantastic and the sea is wonderful.

Hotel Silvestrino is a magnificent place to stay! The hotel itself is nothing incredible, but rooms are very clean and simple - fine for any standard. What makes this hotel special is the restaurant and the staff!

The entire team from reception lady to cook and waiters made our 3 day stay here an absolute joy. Constantly looking to help and making us feel so welcome - they went out of their way to help us book a day boat trip, advise us on where to visit or eat (by the way the Hotel Restaurant is incredible - and by far the best and most popular place to eat in Stintino).

Couldn't recommend this place more - made this part of our holiday all the more special thanks to the management and hotel.

Will def be returning when I come back to Sardinia!

JK

We loved our stay in Sardinia, beautiful beaches, great food and fantastic weather. We stayed 2 nights at the Hotel Silvestrino, right in the centre of the little village of Stintino, in the North of the island, not faraway from the famous beach "La Pelosa". The room was clean and not too small, the main problem was the noise coming from other rooms. The wall are so thin that if your neighbours wake up at 6.30 am... you do the same. I should also mention that the local church is 300 meters away from the hotel and the bells plays every 30 minutes from 7 am on. This is of course not the hotel's responsibility, but people not used to it risk to find it hard to sleep until late in the morning if they wish to do so. The hotel has a restaurant where food is quite good, even though is not cheap for local standard . The biggest "pro" is the nearby beach of "La Pelosa", which is really one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy. It must be noted however that a car is necessary to get there if you do not want to walk 4 kilometres under the Sardinian sun. We will go back to Sardinia but we will not stay again at this Hotel.
