My family and I were traveling from Ohio to OBX and decided it would be best for the kids to stay in a hotel halfway there. We stopped in Richmond and didn't know what we could do for a few hours before we got back on the road. The hotel suggested the Poe museum. It was only $6 per person and was a great way to pass the time. Poe never lived in any of the buildings we toured, but the main house was the first house built in Richmond in 1847. They had many things from Poe and his childhood. Also, there are personal letters and first edition books. This is a quaint little place that every Poe lover needs to see!
