This beautiful home was originally two structures in England - a priory and a manor house. A must-see in Richmond! Relocated in 1927-29, it is the perfect example of adaptive reuse as a home for a former US ambassador and his wife. The grounds are astounding, the guides knowledgable, and the house itself is an architectural gem. Shakespearean plays are also performed here during the summer months.

Akin to its neighbor Agecroft, Virginia House is the vision and legacy of Richmonders who wanted to bring England to Virginia. To visit this place is to understand that love of English history that the Weddell's tried to recreate and preserve. The woodwork is incredible, and don't miss the wood paintings of historical personages up high. And, I would go back just to see the gardens.

We had the chance to see one of the hidden pleasure of Richmond, Virginia House. It is owned and operated under the Virginia Historic Society. What a great surprise this home was! It was like taking a step into England. The home is a English Tudor style manor that would brought here from England, stone by stone! There are surprises around each turn! The staff was friendly and very helpful. The gardens and grounds were well maintained and just breath taking! We were the only ones on this weekend to visit so it was just like having a personal tour of the home. We highly recommend a stop here. It would be a treat that is worth the stop and should not been missed!

Drove all the way there just to find out they are no longer open except by appointment. Agecroft Hall is right next door, did that instead

Again reflective of the still decisive nature in the South. Accurate and worth a visit
